Winning comes in streaks...but how much influence do the casinos have?

13 replies • Last post

Hiya Members,

Winning comes in streaks. There are those moments when it seems like everything we touch turns to gold. It is what every gambler waits for. When is our winning cycle going to hit next, as we continue to wait for that magical cycle to take place.

But i do wonder if the casinos have their cycles of allowing us to win. Yes i understand about the RNG and there is really no power over that. But there is controls over adjusting the payout percentages to boost the casinos in wins for players?

Does anyone ever wonder this too?

They cannot adjust for "streaks" but casinos sure can (and do) change the payout settings on games.

The only casino software that I know for sure cannot be changed is Microgaming - all casinos using Microgaming software have the same payout rates on the same games.

RTG has 3 different payout rates on slots. I believe it can be changed by making a request to RTG. Rival has various settings that the operators can adjust themselves. Not sure about Playtech.

An interesting difference between land and online casinos though is that the land casinos can have different payout settings on the same game on different physical machines. Its an old casino trick ... hang a sign up that says 98% payout slots here and then surround the nearest 3 machines with identical machines that have been set to a lower payout rate. As far as I am aware, the payout rate at an online casino is the same for a game no matter who is playing it, with the exception being machines with random jackpots which have more chance of being triggered with a higher bet size.

At the end of the day its just numbers ... play for long enough and you will have hot streaks and losing streaks. Its inevitable!

I joined an rtg a while back, and made playthrough very easily, could do no wrong and cashed out! However, it almost seemed like they tightened the screws since then and winning is not an option there! Throughout my life I seem to have runs of great 'luck' August has been pretty good so far. Still though, the above mentioned rtg is still gutting me - I am determined however and when this happens need to play smarter!

I have always wondered... Whenever I play in a casino with a free chip, which has its withdrawal limits, I seem to have soooo much luck that I increase my balance not merely by hundreds, but sometimes by thousands! And, of course, I can withdraw only 2x-4x the bonus. So, I've been wondering, would the same thing happen if I was playing for my own money, with no withdrawal limits? It's the irony of gambling, don't you think? Smile

That's a good point CatFace. Personally I generally don't play with any bonuses that have win limits on them. Why limit your upside?

Exactly! It's much better to avoid putting any limitations on your play. You never know when you'll have a lucky strike. However, I always use those free chips when I want to try out a new casino - and it's very often the same story: I win a lot, can withdraw a little. And that's how you get caught and start depositing your own money, hoping that the same thing will happen. Thinking

LOL don't limit yourselves to just that one run of luck either, you may get on a roll and that measley amount that you withdraw from the bonus may lead to a big one! Happened to me last year and I won BIG($10 deposit from the original $50 won on a freebie cashout). Lately, I have been playing at an RTG that gives a vip bonus daily and monthly, and the playthrough is only 2x the bonus with 10x max cash out. In this case it is worth playing and as soon as playthrough is made whip it out quick! (-:

That is the creme de la creme when you can take a free chip and a small deposit and turn it around. How much is "BIG" if you don't mind sharing.

after deposit started from 20c to $1 bets and built up & up to over the hundred in my account. Became more adventurous with the bets, up and down in credit but on the rise. Got to a couple of thousand then threw in $50 bets here and there. Jagged free spins on a $50 then hit a massive pay line iin the centre and including sub/multipliers during free spins feature. I won't specify the amount online here but from the info you can take a calculated guess. But, getting back to the 'starting small', small fish can be very sweet indeed lol.
