what is your strategy?

7 replies • Last post

I like RTG casinos and I have almost all of the accounts with them. Each casino has different bonuses, 50%, 100%, 300% and even 500% at some places. High % bonus will come with high wagering requirement, of course. What bonus would you choose? and do you stick with only 1 or 2 casino that you previously won there or switch to different casinos? do you spin with high bet amount at first trying to beat wagering requirement at first?

I don't really play anything with greater than 30xB in wagering. It just takes too long for my taste. Strategy depends on the game. I've made a lot of cash out of blackjack bonuses where of course you just pick a consistent bet size and play it out, but there aren't so many good ones these days. If it is a sticky bonus I go all out at first - very large bets and try to win something significant (otherwise bust) before playing out the requirements with smaller bets on a low variance game.

In days gone by I played at more casinos than most people have had hot dinners, but these days I stick to 2 or 3 good ones that I know will pay out quickly and without fuss.

I don't usually play anything over 20x the WR. I also will make the minimum deposit required when playing a bonus. This way the playthrough is not as hard to reach. Ideally i like to play 100% bonuses.

I dont know that its so much of a stategy as it is "what not to do-where not to play" It seems that each vendor ie: microgaming, vegas tech, rival, each have different payouts and levels of opportunity using a bonus than do the others. my experience has shown me that at vegas tech english harbour for instance or all of the sister sites as well. that if i deposit and accept the bonus i will have strong play with many hits while playing off the bonus money.it leaves me with the impression that this is good-hot machine !! then i will reach a peak and that is it... its like they shut the shit down. a steady drop in credits and minimal hits (free spins-bonus rounds) till it is gone. i understand i have options and could switch games and so on. however i have stuck to same bet on same game several times to simply observe the pattern, the payout, the thrill then the kill, so to speak. i dont hear of zillions of people winning moderate moneys at vegas tech sites either nothing or they hit a progressive or something substantial. i typical peak out around 400-500 and then they pull the switch. i dont take bonuses from them and actually dont play there much (i do like some games) and will drop 50 or so now and then (without bonus) but never have won in 7 years...rival sucks i think--microgaming is bomb.....have won tens of thousands from microgaming- great gameplay machines arent tight depending on your betting denomination... i feel you have a better shot of winning with microgaming than most others --some other vendors, i cant speak for living in usa. i thinks its obvious that any casino that offers 500%-1000% on every deposit is worthy of investigation. mathematically they cant survive. something very very wrong there !!!!!

Nice post jfedorev. The casino games should not differentiate between bonus and non-bonus play as far as payouts go. However it would be extremely difficult to prove one way or the other without analysing millions of spins. As far as English Harbour goes I have played there a long time and haven't had the same experience, but I also have asked to have my account set to no bonuses because I play a lot of tournaments there and I don't like getting an automatic bonus every time I make a small deposit just to play a tournament.

I agree you should be immediately suspicious of any casino offering a high % bonus like 1000%. Not necessarily because the games might be rigged, but because if something looks too good to be true, it usually is! Mathematically it can still be profitable for the casino - its usually as simple as setting the wagering requirements really high as a multiple of the bonus. And those really high bonuses are almost always non-cashable too.

They do have their benefits though - they allow you to play for a lot longer than normal, and you can bet far larger sizes than you normally would with a smaller bankroll. That is the ideal strategy to use on a high % bonus - bet really big and hope to make a good win early, then lower your bet size and try to grind out the remaining wagering requirements.

And you are right about Microgaming .. they are one of the best.

Thanks for the reply. I like your strategy on high % bonuses, and your right !. if nothing else you will probably have much more game play.As well ,as a chance to bet larger denominations. i used to get so frustrated when iwould deposit, claim a bonus, and play conservativley. and get maybe 15min half hour of play. Im not delusional that i expect to win on whatever game i may chose to play. however, its been my observation that too many sites discriminate against the player using bonus credits.

i would be curious to see a study or what-not showing the difference in winnings and game play of an individual using (lets say) 25 dollars real money, and seperatly;25 dollars bonus money. !!hmmmnnn..(regardless of course of playthrough requirements) just straight up 25 vs 25.?. and if a site boasts "fair gaming" "random number generators" "ect.." does this apply to money they "give you" ?

i understand that bonuses are means of attracting customers of course, but too many sites offer enticing promos with many "fine Print" and often not "subject to change" loopholes. basicly in most industrys, thats considered deception ! (its a great thing that people like you have review sites such as yours "CASINO LISTINGS" to warn, educate and direct players, new & old, to sites with integrity) I suppose its obvious (how i feel) regarding TO TAKE THE BONUS OR NOT. huh. lol.

Oh one last thing thats not cool. You sign up with a site and get a (lets say) 200% match sign up bonus. next month they promote the same 200%sign up bonus and 100 free spins. why cant i close my account (theve already got a chunk of my money) lol, and open a new one ? lets say im superstitious (not) and dont like the account number they issued. it brings me bad luck. I want to change that and open a new accoun ! think it would fly so i could get the free spins CL-ED ??

(suffice to say- i dont take the bonus) I prefer to play where im recognised a a customer, not a contributer !. Thanks for letting me rant and share my views. I feel better already...lol

Yes playing conservatively on a high % / high wagering requirement slots bonus is a recipe for losing your money. It just averages your wins and losses closer to the house edge which the casino has factored into their bonus offer.

The RNG used at a casino should not distinguish between real and bonus money, or even free play money (we have blacklisted a couple of sites that increase the RTP in free play mode). But as I said before it is extremely difficult to distinguish either way. For what its worth I have played online for many years and I don't believe that the casinos do cheat players like that, but I certainly can't prove it!

On your last point it does annoy when you see them change the sign up bonus to something better shortly after you joined, but I guess its like everything else ... you buy a phone or a computer and a month later they bring out a better, cheaper model. Try contacting the live support and asking them to give you the free spins next time - you never know your luck.
