Why do online slot machine paylines pay left to right?

2 replies • Last post

I've always wondered why the pay lines in online slots games and I suppose this would apply to traditional land based casino slots games to pay from left to right. I don't beleive I've ever seen a game that pays from right to left.

Is the consistency in slots paying left to right something that slots manufactures do to keep things the same for players so as to not confuse anyone?

Anyways it's not actually a big deal however I've always wondered this and wanted to know from people here on the message board whether there's actually a reason for this.

It is probably just that the manufacturers know that their main markets have Latin-based languages that read from left to right.

Machines that pay from right to left are not unheard of, for example Intercasino has a game called The Oracle that pays both directions.

Either way it doesn't affect your chances of winning, as the house edge on the slot is set regardless of which direction the paylines run.

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing.

Microgaming casinos also have video slots that pay both left to right and right to left such as Crazy Chameleons
