Do Progressive Jackpots Make You More Likely To Play?

6 replies • Last post

I was thinking about this the other day while I was playing at a casino. When I see a slot machine has a progressive jackpot, I am more likely to play it because I want to hit it BIG.

There are some other slots that I like to play, but I find it more likely that I am willing to play with the progressive.

How about you? Are you more likely to play a slot with or without the big progressive jackpot?

It seems to me that most slots have the major jackpots and some have a major and a minor that can pop up, so that is something cool about the online casinos.

I will play a bigger jackpot one, but not if I have to bet a lot to get it. Many of the land casinos slots make you bet max to qualify for any kind of jackpot/progressive. I probably don't qualify for the really big progressives because of my unwillingness to bet more.

I would say some times I'm attracted to those because who wouldn't want to win. On the other hand, I feel my chances are so slim that I just play what I want. I play games mainly on intuition. I don't like the games where you have to bet a minimum although I play them like Lucky Tiger because I win a lot on them.

So would you say you are more attracted to the jackpot or the theme of the game? Is it the winning potential or the experience of the game (fun factor)?

I limit myself at least 5 spins on Progressive Slots then I move on. I'm into the classic 3 reels or 9 reels, I mostly hit or get even.. 😉

I would say I am more attracted to the game because I feel my chances of winning a progressive jackpot are slim. I may as well have fun while I'm losing my money. I see gambling as a form of entertainment, not a paycheck.

barbadosslim, I would say that I am more attracted to the theme of the game. I tend to play the ones I enjoy the most, then venture out and play one or two that are "new to me," so I can see how I like them. Definitely the potential to win keeps me coming back, but it is also kind of relaxing and fun for me to play now and then. Because they all have the potential to win an instant jackpot, I just play the ones I can afford, rarely the huge progressives, just because I tend to stick to around 50 cents per spin games. 🙂
