Question about "play-through"

6 replies • Last post

I know everyone says that casino bonuses aren't what they used to be, and forgive me, because I am relatively new to the online gambling scene, lol, but how in the world does anyone ever meet "play through?" Sometimes, when I am too broke to make a deposit I will try a "no deposit" bonus just for something to do and also, sometimes, to try out a casino I may want to deposit at in the future.

I was looking at "Slotocash," for example, and they have a play through of $1250.00 and the most you can withdraw is $50.00 after all that! lol! Why would anyone even bother (except to try out the casino for free, as I stated above). And, does anyone ever reach the "play through" requirements? If so, are their any strategies to do so? I am just curious about all this. I am also aware that some play through amounts are not quite as high and withdrawal amounts are up to $200.00 in some cases, but they still make it almost impossible. No?

Thanks~! 🙂

Play-through is the casino's protection against being creamed by thousands of players claiming free chips (and many trying it with multiple accounts and identities etc). You're never going to get a free chip without significant conditions attached. That's the reality I'm afraid.

My personal strategy with free chips is use them or lose them as quickly as possible. Its no use trying to play it through at 25c a spin. Better to bet really big up front, even if that means you only get 5 or 3 spins. And just hope you hit a winner on one of those spins then re-evaluate. I think I have withdrawn from a grand total of about 2 free chips over the years. But then again I would have claimed less than 20 in total, as most of the top casinos simply don't offer them.

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing at a new casino.

I've come close to withdrawing a no deposit chip, but failed at the end. I almost always try to not take bonuses unless they are a free chip, and even then I find myself not having as much fun because I know 99.9% of the time I will walk out a loser...

I'd just rather risk my own $50 one time than have to have it matched 3 times and wager it 30x through.

I have won quite a bit on deposit bonus and meeting the play through requirements. If i get lucky i will win something on a bonus game than i just keep going by switching btw slot machines. I usually bet btw 2 dollar a spin to 5 dollar a spin. It's not that hard to make the "play through" if you get lucky in the first 5minutes . eg. deposited 50 and got 1oo% match .so my wager req. were 3000.I hit 500 on the bonus round than kept hitting small wins . I've played for hours many times, although most of the times i take a bonus i know i;m in just for the fun and don't mind losing............Now that's a gambler!!!! 🙂

Agreed Lucky1. You can find deposit bonuses that are well worth the playthrough. My rule of thumb is that if it is 30xB or less then it is worth looking at.

But free chip playthroughs are almost always very high.

Do you know what hope? I have never finished th wagering on a free chip. not once!

but I have done many times on a normal bonus with a deposit. i think the casinos make the free chips almost impossible to win on on purpose. i guess they cant have everyone winning on them for fear of going broke.

Wow! Just another reason I love this place. Thanks for all the awesome feedback, everyone. I learn something new every single time I ask a question, and in this case, my "free-chip play through" is just the opposite of what is recommended. What you are all saying, bet high and just go for broke, is kind of like what my brother does with the "free money" he is given at the land casinos. He always bets max with their money, but I am always too chicken, so I bet my "all lines, minimum bet," as always, their money or mine.

Now, talking plain deposit bonuses, I really like them, because sometimes I truly can play a lot longer, but my greatest fear is still that I will hit something really big, then lose it all due to play through.

I will take everything you said and add it to my new online casino knowledge, lol. I do understand that the casinos always have the edge and not many will win with the free chip deposits. I look at those at a way to familiarize myself with a casino before I decide if I want to deposit there in the future, and in that regard, it has been nice.

Thanks, again, everyone! 🙂
