ClassifiedSweepstakes 50$ no deposit bonus - legal in the US?

1 reply • Last post

I just received an email with 50$ no deposit bonus from this site:

Classifiedsweepstakes (dot) com

Even more - they say it's completely legal for US players to gamble there... Did anyone hear from them before?
Anyone else played there yet?

First up, I'm not a lawyer, nor do I live in the USA, so take what I say with a grain of salt!

Unless you live in a U.S. state that has a specific law that explicitly defines online gambling as illegal, no online casinos are illegal in the USA. The federal UIGEA law only prohibits financial transactions that are conducted for the purpose of "illegal internet gambling". Only thing is the brainiacs who tacked that law onto a port security act forgot to define what "illegal internet gambling" actually is. More info here:
Is online gambling illegal in the USA?

The reality of course is that enough people keep saying it is illegal that most people believe that it is.

Anyway regarding this specific site and their claims of "100% legal" in the USA,to me I can't see how they are any more or less legal than any other online casino. I know they are playing the sweepstakes angle, but we have had many news stories of internet cafes being shut down for doing this exact thing. Here's a search of our site for related stories:

To me the biggest tell of the confidence this site has in what they are saying is this:

Quote:

CLASSIFIEDSWEEPSTAKES.com is sponsored by Classifieds-on-net.com and managed by Kingsbury Services Ltd, 3rd floor, 60 Market Square, PO Box 364, Belize City, Belize

Despite their claims of "100% legal" they are set up in an unregulated South American country where they are answerable to no-one. They don't sound too confident to me! Also seeing a site run out of Belize is enough reason to never play there regardless of their claims of legality.

Always play it safe! Consult our list of rogue casinos and warnings before depositing at a new casino.
