Question About Existing Players at Online Casinos

8 replies • Last post

Hiya CL Members,

I have a question that i can't quite make sense of. It's about all these online casinos that are jumping on the the band wagon and not accepting new registrants but will allow existing players to continue to gamble.

If they are afraid they are going to get busted for allowing US players then why is there no fear for the existing player? Would it matter to the DOJ if it is an existing player or a new sign up? I can understand MIcrogaming allowing existing players after the ban went into effect and refusing new players. It would be a loop whole in technicality possibly.

It's not like DOJ is going to say oh ok you allowed this player to register on such and such a date so it's cool? Does any of t his make sense to anyone?

My guess is that they fear someone working for the DoJ or whatever signing up, depositing and then making a withdrawal to trace the money. Maybe they are making the call that if they close to new registrants then its less likely to happen. Who knows? They certainly aren't explaining things.

This actually makes no sense, despite this, the control of U.S players is something that has no edge- how can a casino detect whether I am from the US, or just an African on my vacations in NY ? this is nonsense...

Of course they cannot detect where you reside, but it is easy to detect where you are at the time you access the casino via your IP address. It would be far too difficult to verify people that were "on vacation" or whatever so the easiest thing to do is block everyone.

but blocking everyone is not fair.... I just do not get it, Isn't it enough that gambling is for adults ?

And I think adults can better decide what t do with their lives, rather than a government does it for them...

hmm... not like this real world at all.... I only see Nevada struggling to achieve something, the rest of US seems to just getting used to either gamble illegally, or not gamble online at all....
