Has the Earthquake Affected Your Life?

4 replies • Last post

I am writing this thread because I am curious as to whether or not the Earthquake in Japan has affected your life in any way. I can state for a fact that in Michigan where I live, my work has been affected by this. We have a lot of our customers in Japan and since the quake, their plants have shut down and not been ordering product for their plants. This in turn has caused us not to produce our product as quickly and resulted in me being sent home early a few times or having shifts cancelled.

Have you been affected? How so?

Sorry to hear that. Its amazing how interconnected everyone is these days.

One of the guys who writes some articles for us was in Tokyo at the time of the quake and was stuck there for a while as his flights out were cancelled. But he has left and is safe so that is good news.

My sister in law also works for Toyota so naturally that has screwed with some of their business and production.

And I also have a friend who is from there and his family lives in Yokohama which is the big city just south of Tokyo - or these days its almost one city as they have grown so much they are basically joined. He says they are ok but the mood is not good.

If anyone can pull through this the Japanese can. I've never seen such such a polite, organised and cooperative bunch of people.
