Restaurant Nightmares.......

28 replies • Last post

Hiya CL Members,

We all have experienced nightmares in restaurants now and again. I have a few myself. One i will never forget is putting ketchup on my plate and later realizing that someone put a penny in the bottle! Ketchup clean's pennies shiny and new. So i just ate all the germs and dirt on that penny!

Another time i was out and ordered eggs for b'fast when after a few bites i realized the entire plate was filled with tiny pieces of shattered glass! I freaked out envisioning that my insides were gonna be destroyed!

Another time i was having dinner downtown at a fancy restaurant when i ordered a salad and half way through found a fake finger nail in it!!!!

Those are just a few......lmaooo!

What are some of your nitemares?

All I got is a few "strands of hairs on my plate" stories...nothing too serious, thankfully

My friend found a fly in her strawberry margerita. I kept trying to tell her it had to be part of the strawberry, lol! Until she started putting the pieces together on her napkin. haha And, of course, the waitress asks, "would you like another?" Wink

Then there was the night I was invisible Took my middle son out for his bday, with my two other sons and a couple of their friends: me and six boys! They all received their food and I ordered some meal deal that came with appetizer and dessert. Kept waiting and waiting for my food, then informed the waitress, then waited some more. Everyone was done eating, and I still sat waiting. My son had to be home for a phone call or something, so I finally said just bring mine "to go," and of course, I am starving.. Brings it "to go" and the appetizer is MISSING! Wait around for the complete meal and finally was able to leave with a complete meal. Sat in front of the TV and scarfed that food down, all by my lonesome, wondering how the heck that happened. lol!

The worst I have had is just the restaurant totally forgetting to cook my meal (happened quite a few times now) for me, I am happy to say.

Although on Friday night I went out for dinner for my birthday to this awesome Japanese restaurant and the nightmare was that I was so stuffed that I couldn't finish the chocolate fondant for dessert... now thats the stuff of real nightmares.

Call me a tough customer, but if a restaurant forgot about my meal, I'd get up and leave after some time, without a word. Thumb Down

But what I hate most are things like hairs or, God forbid, nails in my food! I think I'd throw up if I saw a nail in my meal! Sick Found quite a few hairs, though... Sad

Problem is everyone else at the table gets theirs and they are all eating and happy so I can't get up and leave. It would be funny to get up and go buy some takeaway from somewhere else, bring it in and sit down at the table and eat it. Might try that next time ... it always happens to me!

I went out for Mexican food and chips and salsa were brought to the table. The salsa had formed a skin on top. You could practically cut the gel layer on top with a knife.

At a Chinese restaurant I ordered shrimp and broccoli and the shrimp stunk to the high heavens. Even cooked it smelled awful, can't imagine it raw........ and they served it!

Got a pizza with several unidentified curly hairs under the cheese. Thank goodness I'm a "picker". Would've never seen it. Sick

One thing i will never do is return a meal if it is not what i ordered. I have heard horror stories of what those cooks will do if you return a meal back to the kitchen!

Would you resort to some sinister tactics if you were the in the restaurant biz? What if you were the cook preparing food for someone you can't stand and to top if off they sent their food back?

My not so favorite person's food would be safe for round one but OMG if they sent it back! Stand clear, I'm spitting in it!

OMG, curly hairs? I would vomit and then sue, lol!

I found chewed gum in a taco from the drive through. Forgot about that one. SO GROSS!

And, yes, I couldn't really leave that time, because it was my son's birthday, but I honestly could NOT believe it! I honestly felt invisible.

One more: my mom and SIL were eating and the ceiling fell on their table! Fortunately no one was hurt, but their food was destroyed. They offered alternative seating and a free meal. lol!

There is only one person on earth who I can think of that I would spit in the person's food. Well, maybe two. But they would both SO deserve it, lmbo!

One time we were eating at a chain pizza restaurant and for some reason I decided to pick and tear my crust apart. When I got the crust torn off I noticed a JAGGED PIECE OF METAL in my pizza! It must have broken off a piece of equipment and gotten in there, but thank God I did not eat that or else I would have definitely cut my mouth badly!

But if I DID chew that metal perhaps I would own one of those snazzy casinos you folks are playing at now Wink.

When i was a kid my parents would order pizza occasionally from this dive in the neighborhood only as a last resort cuz they were only a few blocks away. It was one of those nites and when the pizza came we all dove in and took a piece. Halfway through eating it my mom found a black water bug baked in pizza.

Honest to goodness story. She called the pizza joint and they offered to bring another!! Now who is gonna eat another pizza there or even have the appetite after that!

Ahhhhh yuck!!! That reminds of the the show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. This guy eats the most ridiculous food (if you can call it that) you could ever imagine. I can barely watch the show.

Or some of these reality shows that put contestants to the test to win big bucks. You couldn't pay me a million dollars, no i take that back a BILLION dollars to eat some of the crap they ingest!

Oh yes I saw a show where people had to eat "thousand year old egg". They are large eggs from a big bird (can't remember) and they are green coloured and look disgusting. But its a Chinese delicacy. In reality its just pickled eggs but these people were gagging, I think they really thought the egg was a thousand years old.

One thing that disturbs me in restaurants is items on the menu that are labeled as "special". Like "special rice" or "special chicken". Nah uh not going back. I mean c'mon what's the special part? Dare I ask?

I typically don't like anything in a restaurant that is doused in a cream sauce. You are absolutely clueless as to what lurks under all the cream sauce!

But......ok i do have to be honest. I have one exception to that rule. I have to have my marinara sauce or vodka sauce with my pasta!
