What's the last good movie you watched?

84 replies • Last post

Heya everyone!

September's getting near to its end, and autumn's already come to our lives. This is the time of year when most of us abandon clubbing and prefer going to some less active place or even stay in and watch a good movie, enjoying a big bag of popcorn and a giant coke.

Now, I have to admit that, in the past few years I have frequently been to the cinema, but saw merely a couple of decent movies. Is it that movies nowadays are dumber than they used to be, or I'm not good at picking a good movie, I'm not sure. But I definitely need some recommendations for the colder days that are ahead of us!

Hahah ... either the movies are getting dumber, or maybe it is you getting smarter!

I recently watched Out of the Blue which is a true story about a gun massacre in a tiny town in New Zealand. It was very hard to watch but also very good. Its just about as opposite from a Hollywood movie as you can get. You would have to track it down on DVD / other means.

Toy Story 3 was the last good thing I saw at the movies. It is fantastic, even for adults.

I also watched Clash of the Titans and that was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. I quite liked the old movie when I was a kid, but this new one was dire.

I also loved the old Clash movie, I watched it several times when I was little. Toy Story is a good recommendation, I'll have to watch the first two parts, and then go to the cinema for the third (yaaay, a lot of nice movies to spend time with! lol).

As for the last couple of good movies I watched in the cinema, they both involve Leo DiCaprio - Shutter Island and Inception. Those two are worth seeing, indeed. But I think this may mean that my good-movie choice has reduced to only one actor! Erm

I heard Inception was good. I'll add it to my DVDs to watch list!

Shoot, you just crossed two movies I wanted to watch next! Is the Last Airbender really that bad? I was really going for some great special effects there...

the last airbender is by far one of the worst movies ive ever seen. Special effects r ok i guess, but thats about it. Nothing else is worth mentioning, oh wait... ppl were leaving in the middle of the movie ! thats worth mentioning Tongue

Btw I just saw the " Ghostwritter" with Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan and Kim Cattrall starring. Not a bad movie , nothing spectacular but at least it holds ur attention from the beginning til the end lol

Play Safe!

Kick Ass? Nope, that one hasn't come to Serbia yet, I think. But it actually has good marks on IMDb...

I watched a classic last night - Rocky III. I know it's not much of a movie, but it was a great feeling to go back through time and watch something as simple as that... Loved it! lol

Well I saw Kick Ass and its bizarre. Its very funny one minute, then ultra violent the next. Then it tries to go back to being funny but I am not sure it really works though.

Thanks highroller! Could you just tell me a bit about your impressions of "The Town"? I don't recall that one, perhaps it's not in our cinemas yet.

Fyi, Machete was one of the funnies parodies I've seen since the Inglorious Basterds. If you take it seriously (which is almost impossible to do), it's totally dumb. But if you don't, it's actually the dumbness that does the trick. lol

I watched 2012 last night and that was a stinking turkey of a movie. It was among the most ridiculously unbelievable rubbish I have ever seen. I lost count of the stupid things I saw in that movie ...

Oooooh, I remember that trash! I tried to fall asleep during the movie, to make at least some use of my time there, but I simply couldn't - apart from being absolutely dumb, it was also excessively loud. lol

I've seen That obscure object of desire by Luis Bunuel. Has anyone seen it? Actually it was OK and know I'm interested in other Bunuel films.

I just watched an awesome movie on HBO called Devil. I was kinda afraid to watch it because i don't like and type of possession movies but this wasn't about possession at all.

I won't ruin the movie and tell ya how it ends but it is about 5 people trapped in an elevator for hours and one of them is the devil himself. When the lights flicker and go off several times in the movie oh my........let's just say it is a thriller and i loved it!

I've watched that movie and liked it, but I think the other Bunuel movies I've watched are better. I can recommend le discret charme de la bourgeoisie and Belle de Jour avec Catherine Deneuve.

I've seen the masterpiece of Pedro Almodóvar- All about my mother - for the third time yesterday. I love drama movies, but this one is peculiar! and Penélope Cruz as Rosa is just brilliant!

I'm not very fond of Almodovar movies, but anyway, they are interesting and different, worth watching. But the one I really like is Hable Con Ella, (Speak to Her), very interesting plot and dramatic
