Does Anyone Watch The Walking Dead?

200 replies • Last post

Does anyone watch the zombie show The Walking Dead? The midseason premiere was last night and it had killer ratings. I was so excited for this show to come back and loved the show last night.

Does anyone else watch this show? What do you think of it?

Nope. I have a ton of "my" shows, but this is not one of them. However, my oldest son is psyched and talking about this today, lol. I may have to check it out someday, but I don't know if I dare add another show to my list! I am just glad many of mine are on in different seasons, or I would do nothing but watch episodes of shows. lol

Lucky Me and I are hooked on Shameless right now. (American Version in the middle of Season Two)

LuckyMe, the Walking Dead is a show where a cop gets injured and wakes up at the hospital and discovers the world has been overrun by zombies. The show is really good, and actually is more of a drama than anything, although it does have a LOT of gore and cool zombie shots.

I definitely recommend it. The story is top notch.

Agreed. Anyone who hasn't checked it out would be well off to watch it on Netflix or Blu-ray!

BSlim are you really going to make me add another show to my list? lol! I will probably have to see what it is all about, but I am not a big "zombie" person. However, I didn't think I would like the Sopranos, either, and I loved the entire series.

Here are my shows, BSlim, in order of how much I like them. Do you watch any of these?

1. Breaking Bad
2. Weeds
3. Shameless
4. American Horror Story
5. The Good Wife
6. Nurse Jackie
7. Desperate Housewives (last season)
8. Boardwalk Empire
9. Revenge

I just started watching Revenge. And I have watched a few episodes of Boardwalk Empire, too, which is very good. Love Steve Buscemi! I feel like I am forgetting one, but I can always come back and add, lol. Like I said, I am just thankful they are not all on at once, so I can always have some show to look forward to.

BSlim and everyone else, do you watch any of the above?

I catch Breaking Bad on Netflix, and my wife watches Desperate Housewives. I have heard Boardwalk Empire is good, but haven't sen it yet. I don't catch a lot of shows, but watch Big Bang Theory, Walking Dead, and Pawn Stars.

Oh, and as my wife is more than happy to tell me: an overabundance of sports!

That is too funny, B'Slim. I like watching Storage Wars on Netflix, too, while I am doing other things (usually on the computer, lol.) I will let you know if I ever start, and get hooked into, The Walking Dead. 🙂

I like Pawn Stars. There are so many interesting items that are brought in. I just think it's funny when they tell the person how much something is worth and the person always wants top dollar.

Okay. Well, even after I swore I would not add another show, I got sucked in, lol! I really did not think I would like it, as I have always thought of zombies and zombie movies as really fake, but wow, they do a good job.

I watched the first episode on Project Free TV then discovered that Netflix had the first season free to stream, so I was able to watch on the TV. Just finished up the first season, only six episodes, a few minutes ago, since I am on the couch today. Now I have to go back to the Project Free to catch Season Two.

I am really enjoying the show (although Breaking Bad is still number one for me), and I am starting to get really attached to some of the characters. I love Andrea, Glen, and I adore Dale (the old man with the hat). Just love his character.

Just left off with the CDC blowing up and they are on the road again. That doctor was just a tad bit crazy, lol. This one really grabs you and makes me want to keep watching the next and the next episode. I will be bummed when I catch up and have to wait a week for the next episode, lol.

What are some of your favorite characters and scenes, B'Slim. Remember not to give anything away, because I haven't started Season Two yet, lol.

I also have to add that I am really enjoying Norman Reedus's character, even if he is a "hick." LOVED HIM in Boondocks Saints, a fantastic film, and it is fun to see him in his role in The Walking Dead. 🙂

I am now on Season Two, just finished up Episode Four, 'Cherokee Rose." What else did I have to do when I was so sick yesterday? I think my fever broke last night, so I am hoping I am going to get better. I haven't bothered with the doctor, because I know they will just say "virus" and send me home.

Anyway, how touching was the Cherokee Rose part? I guess Daryl is going to lose his reputation as a badaxx, lol. Here is a cool interview with Norman Reedus:

I am still not frightened by the "walkers," although I have to admit when we suffered a black out at our apartment last night, my mind wandered a bit, lol! I am just completely fascinated by the scenario, the character development and the actors are amazing. I love the actor who plays Hershel. He is so good with expressing emotion. He deserves an award, IMHO.

B'slim, the last episode I watched they found Sophia. What a shocker that was, when everyone was holding out such hope, especially Daryl. 😢

I can't believe the finale is already Sunday. Now I will have to wait an entire year for the next season? lol No matter what I am doing, I can't wait to watch the next episode, yet trying to force myself to take it slow, because I don't want it to end. Great show for sure!

B'Slim, if you need something to fill your time after The Walking Dead is over, I strongly recommend that you catch up with Breaking Bad, which can be seen on Project Free TV and Netflix.

FIRST OF ALL: MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN MOST OF SEASON TWO OF WALKING DEAD OR IF YOU EVER BELIEVE YOU WILL WATCH THIS SHOW!

OMGosh, B'Slim, I shed my very first tears watching this damn show, and I am NOT a "crier." I just finished the third to last episode where one of my favorite characters is now gone (Dale). 😢 😢 😢 Right now I am so angry with this show for killing him off! Most of all, during this episode, I started hating a child!!! lol! I am so angry with Carl, because of how plain STUPID this kid is, angry with his parents who claim they will never let him out of their site, yet they let him wander into the woods to play with the zombies so shortly after he is SHOT and so shortly after the disappearance of Sophia. WTH? He got that Walker out of the mud to be free to kill Dale and that blood is on his young hands, no matter what. Talk about a kid who is going to need a therapist, lol.

Yeah, I know, I know, it is just a show, but I get so attached to certain characters and want them to LIVE! I didn't think they would take one of the few left who had the voice of reason and sanity, who did not follow blindly. I can only imagine what the group will become without him, although there are a few decent people left, I guess. What really got me, too, was how no one said any words of love and/or comfort to the poor guy as he checked out. I know they were all in panic and shock, but couldn't Andrea or someone said something?

Whew. Had to get that out. I have "Better Angels" left, which I will most likely watch before bed tonight, then I will have to wait for the finale tomorrow night, when THREE more of my shows are on (if they are all on this week).

I love all the dilemmas and trying to figure out what I would do in the same situation. I guess when I said I was getting sucked in, I really got sucked in. lol

Well, I am all caught up as of last night, so I will be able to watch the finale when it pops up on Project Free. I now have FOUR shows that will be on tonight, so I will have to watch some tomorrow, lol. I don't want to hear anything about the finale if I haven't watched it.

The showrunner says there will be lots of deaths tonight. Trying to guess who is going to live and who is going to die.

There are a few questions I have. Why did Carl's gunshots attract all those Walkers when the gunshots at the barn attracted nothing? That is one question I have. I also believe that Carl needs a spanking not told to act like a man when he is clearly still a kid, but i guess he proved himself tonight saving his dad, lol.

If Norman Reedus is killed off I am not watching Season 3, but I don't think that is going to happen, lol.. I read where his character is not in the comic book, but people liked him so much that the showrunners saved him. (Although they say no one is safe when it comes to getting killed off).

I have a feeling that Hershell, T-Dog, and maybe Otis's wife and one of Hershell's daughters will get it tonight. I am hoping upon hope that Carol doesn't die, but the previews do show her backed up against the barn by Walkers. Maybe Daryl (Reedus) will save her?

I listened to some of the re-caps with the actors. So funny to hear Rick Grime's and Maggie speaking in their English accents. How is it so easy for those with English accents to speak in an American accent? They both do a good job with that.

Last night's episode was epic! I am not a comic book fan, but am considering purchasing it to see how the show differs from the show.

*spoiler*

Chopping off a zombie's head with a samurai sword, while dragging two limbless zombies behind you? EPIC!

There is an animation recreation of the comic book on YouTube. I would like to watch that, but only up to the point where i am now. I have read a couple of spoilers already, that made me a little angry, that people who have read the comics read about and it did not happen yet. My oldest son has read all the comics except the very last one, I guess.

Yes, they cast "Michonne" and "The Governor" who I keep hearing whispers about, yet trying to ignore. I guess they had not cast her yet, which is why they had that figure behind the good. At first I thought those zombie slaves were so fake. I mean, did she pull their teeth out? lol Glad Andrea is safe for now!

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/walking-dead-michonne-danai-g...

I really thought more main characters would die, but I am so glad they did not. Especially Hershell. Still so sad about Dale. Not sure I like who Rick is turning into, but I heard he was going to become more dark as a character. Loved when Hershell was in the "fugue" state until Lori finally got through to him.

So glad to say good-bye to Shane. He died an easy death compared to what I had in mind for him, lol. Lori is an idiot. Rick did her and Carl a big favor.

Did you see on The Talking Dead where the character who plays Jimmy said he was totally horrified shooting his scene in the RV. I am grieving the end of the RV! I wish they could have saved Dale's legacy. The group is much smaller and so are their modes of transportation now.

Someone in the forums had a great idea. They said they should make webisodes while fans wait for the next season to begin in the fall. They said the webisodes should be the WALKERS back stories. Like show what happened to Sophia, show who the Walkers who killed her, Dale, and others were before the end of the world arrived.

Two more things: I think Rick put the group in danger by not telling them they are infected. If they assumed someone had to be bit or scratched, they would have a false sense of security, and they could have turned their back on a dead a person (as Rick did with Shane).

I don't like Rick saying this is no longer a democracy. He got rid of the "bad seed," and the rest of the group should all be valued for their individual strengths. Plus, why would Rick even WANT that responsibility? I don't like a dictatorship and I don't think the group will, either, yet no one left...yet.

I just read where not only were the pet zombies' arms removed, but so were their jaws. My oversight. The TV was so dark during some of the scenes that I had to watch them over again on Project Free. I think Andrea will pair up perfectly with another badass woman, lol! She has been preparing for this all season long.

Thanks for the spoiler warnings... I was able to skip the last few posts and avoid them!

I actually acquired a few episodes of this a while ago but never got around to watching it. But now my kung-fu instructor of all people is hooked on it and he keeps badgering me to watch it so he can talk about it with someone. I'll have to find some time to watch it but its tough because zombies are not up Mrs CL-Ed's alley.

There is enough drama in it wherein she may actually like it, Ed. I know of several women who aren't into zombies but like the show because of the story line. Let her watch the first episode or two with you and see what she thinks.

That is me. I am not scared by the zombies. I just always thought they are kind of fake. They DO do a good job with the making of the zombies, but tis true that is the least of my interest in this show. I love watching the people interact, those from all walks of life and thinking about the survival of the group, what I would do, who I like to love and who I love to hate. The acting and castings is excellent.

My kung-fu instructor said "its the most realistic zombie show ever". Then we all laughed at him for calling zombies realistic.

That IS funny, CL-Ed. I know what he means, though, lol.

I was listening to an interview with one of the showrunners (can't remember his name right now),and he said he was a huge fan of zombies, and especially the classic "The Night of the Living Dead," which he watched when he was in middle school. Then he picked up the comics of The Walking Dead and the rest is history.

Let us know when you start watching. I am jealous, because you will be able to watch two seasons, one episode after the other. They DO have this show on Netflix (Season One) and Project Free TV (Season Two).

Check out this hilarious video about Daryl Dixon, heart throb of The Walking Dead. Be sure to watch until the end, because I think the words at the end are the funniest part of the video. (NO spoilers in the video, just a montage of scenes that don't really give anything away):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPMHDtYlN_g
