What modern convenience is one of your favorites?

There are so many. It's hard to narrow it down to one.

I would say my electric toothbrush.

I love my iPod! I would never, ever have had one of these if not for CL, and I feel so spoiled each time I use it to listen to my music or play some fun games/aps.

I love my cell phone too, but I worry about radiation from it. I can't imagine being without it. When I sometimes forget it, I feel lost without it. How did we drive hundreds of miles before without a cell phone?

I was still using a pay phone up to one year ago, then I got another "Pay as you go phone." I would love to have a fancy phone, but I just cannot afford it/do not want to add another monthly bill to my already difficult, challenging budget, lol. Sometimes I would also like to at least pay for the unlimited plan on the phone I have now, but I am always too cheap, lol! I finally bought this one so I could use it for emergencies or to call to ask if we have milk or do I need to pick up milk on the way home? Things like that, lol. I try to limit it, but sometimes it is difficult, but not many people even have my cell phone number. I do have to remind my sons that I pay for my minute, oftentimes.

As far as other modern conveniences, I could not live without my computer. I seriously go through withdrawals when it is in the shop.

I could live without the computer but I wouldn't like it. I pay so many bills online now. It was very inconvenient when I without it for a week.

Do you have access to wifi (wireless internet) hope? If so you can use skype on your ipod touch. Obviously not as good as being in contact wherever you go, but if you just want to make calls while you are at home its a winner.

I never thought of that. I don't have wireless wherever I go, but it is easily obtained, like at coffee shops, bookstores, etc. I never thought of using Skype. I have watched You Tube vids on it, lol

Give it a try. If you can get your friends to hook up to skype as well then you can call each other for free. Otherwise you can put a little money in your account and call regular phones for very cheap rates.

Hi CL-Ed. I used Skype a lot during my online teaching for those who were too shy to study over the phone. We did our lessons on Skype, and it was really pretty cool. I could also take over their screen to show them how to do different things. I just haven't used it a lot since I was laid off from that job, but it was a great feature with many uses! 🙂

I use both Skype & YM (Yahoo Messenger) to get hold of my friends & family around the world. It's totally free.. love it too!
