Thanks Hope, I don't know all the details yet. I'm hearing this second hand from my mom who is in her 80's. I will call back later. I know she is really upset and I don't want to upset her more by asking a lot of questions. It's funny how the second you hear someone's voice you know something is wrong. That was my first question. Is everything ok? My brother lives about 6 hours away from me. I appreciate the prayers and positive thoughts. I pray for the outcome that my brother would want. 🙂

Thank you Hope and Ubetcha, All I know is they have admitted him to ICU. I will know more later today. 🙂

Thanks CL-Ed. My first thought upon hearing the news was to have people pray for him. I know not every one believes in prayer and that is ok. A couple of years ago he fell, hit his head, passed out, ended up having a stroke and a heart attack. My sister, who is a nurse, felt sure he was going to die, that's what the docs were telling her. I drove the six hours, crying off and on, just trying to get there before he died. He also had to have surgery for a subdural hematoma. They had to cut a piece of the skull out to allow for the swelling to go down. So many people prayed for him and he survived. He is not quite the same person but we are happy to have him around a little while longer.

I spoke too soon. This is the latest. Apparently the hospital staff had my brother tied down. Maybe he was aggressive. I don't know. Somehow he got untied and was wondering the halls. Can you imagine being confused, waking up somewhere where you don't know where you are at? Somehow the security guard tackled my brother and he hit his head. I don't know how bad it is, but they were ready to release him to a nursing type home facility the next day. Now he is not able to leave yet. Why in the heck did they have to tackle him? Were they really worried for their safety? I am just so sad about all of this. I wonder if they did any damage to his head? I guess some Altzheimers patients do get aggressive. Sad to think you may get hurt in a hospital while you are trying to get well.

My friend's mother has Alzheimer's and she was in a nice nursing home. She tried to escape once, so they transferred her to a locked ward. All because they were not watching her in the first place. It has to be difficult to be so far away and not be able to get information first hand. Continued positive thoughts being sent out for all of you!

Thanks CL-Ed. They transferred him to a nursing home for 21 days. I don't know why it is 21 days. That is probably when his insurance runs out. He will have an attendant who stays with him. He was able to call my mom and tell her what he had for supper. Just the fact that he remembers her phone number is encouraging. 🙂
