You Won't Believe What I Saw Today.

Please anything odd you see or hear in this thread.

Today I saw a blue elephant! He/she was in one of those costumes people wear while waving a sign. I have no idea what she/he was advertising for though.

Lol, that is too funny! I can't imagine what a blue elephant would be advertising.

When I was driving home a few months ago, on a very busy boulevard in my busy suburb, I thought I saw a large dog up ahead of me. I started to slow down, and i was just going to complain to my son about people letting their dogs loose to get hit by a car. In an instant, I realized it was a doe! There was the tiniest patch of trees right in front of a HUGE car dealership where she ran out and the tiniest patch on the opposite side of the street she ran into (close to a house and a gas station). I was shocked, and I felt really bad, because i cannot imagine where she had to go, except to eventually make it out to the freeway to get hit. We have really displaced nature, and the deer population has increased hundreds fold since the turn of the century. 😢

Oh, and my other son teased me that I was seeing things, so I am glad my oldest son was with me to witness the fact the animal was a DOE and not a DOG!

I think the funniest thing I have seen was a mattress person. In one of the towns I used to live in, that is how they advertised.

We honked at the elephant and waved. It gave us a thumbs up. We always honk and wave because I think most of the time people ignore the costume people. I think it gives them a little lift. I remember there is also the Liberty person we see around tax time and the Little Ceasar's Pizza person. Now we are wondering if we were giving approval to some cause we don't like. lol I hope the elephant is still there tomorrow so we can find out.

Haha! Be careful who you give the thumbs up to, in other words? lol In my mom's town, there was a big purple thing, couldn't even tell what it was, to advertise haircuts! I couldn't make the connection between a purple blob and wanting to go get a haircut, lol!

I wonder if any of those businesses have been sued yet for distracting drivers and causing an accident? Now THAT is something I could see happening in this sue-happy world, lol!

They really are a distraction. We have people here in the intersections all the time collecting for stuff. They are usually four of them, each in a different direction. They have almost caused so many accidents.

You wouldn't think they would be able to get away with that, in the interest of public safety. Did you ever find out what the blue elephant was advertising? lol

When I lived out west, soliciting like that was illegal. I guess each state has different rules about a lot of things. I never did find out what the blue elephant was for and it will bug me for awhile. I will have to look online and see if I can find anything.

The only thing I could find for a blue elephant was a restaurant and also Elephant insurance company so I may never know.

I'm pretty sure we saw a coyote. (yesterday, I'm a day behind) It was dark but the animal slinked across the road like the ones I've seen before. I guess probably a lot of people see coyotes. I till get excited to see them though.

I saw a huge Betty Boop statue. There were also the Blue Brothers, Elvis and some other ones that I didn't know who they were. Hope, we were just talking about Betty Boop in another thread.

I also saw the most beautiful red headed woodpecker about two days ago. He had the black and white stripes on his body. He flew away before I could get a photo. He was big too!

I did get a photo of Betty Boop today. I didn't notice she had a little heart on her leg until we were driving around the building. This was on Route 66. I will post it when I get time.

I saw a guy back up in the fast food drive through lane. Then he turned around in the parking lot and went the right way. I have never seen anyone ever back into a drive through the wrong way.

Ohhhhhhh! I LOVE it! That is a great photo, too! 🙂 Thanks for posting the statue of one of my faves: Betty Boop! Boop Boop De Doop! lol

I did not see this, but those who have a chance to see this are fortunate, because it does not last long. This is pretty cool!

Hope, What a beautiful video! I would travel there to see that if I could. It would be worth filming it and taking photos. I would have to be quick though. 🙂

You are welcome Hope. I didn't realize how cute she is. What era is she from? That is a pretty short outfit she has on. They had Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, The Blues Brothers and I think it was James Dean but not sure. This was on Route 66.

LuckyMe, Betty Boop has been around for a long time. She was in comics and cartoons, and she had a little dog, too, but I can't think of its name right now. Here is more information on the famous Betty:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Boop

She even has her own official website:

http://www.bettyboop.com/forums/

I found out the dog's name is Pudgy. I should have remembered that:

Pudgy first appeared in the cartoon Betty Boop's Little Pal in September 21, 1934 and last appeared in My Friend The Monkey in January 27, 1939.

Retrieved from www.bettyboop.com on February 22, 2012.

She and all her variations (like biker Betty Boop, lol) are adorable. Her squeaky little voice, saying Boop Boop De Doop is cute, too, lol. And, yes, she is everywhere still and has many fans. The casino game is fun and she dances and talks to you. 😉

I saw an eagle today! I also saw a goose fly into a tree. That was not fun. I pray that the bird is ok.

I hope the goose is okay. it is amazing, sometimes, what they can live through, like when a bird flies into glass, is stunned, then flies away!

That is so cool to see an eagle. I really enjoy watching eagles, too. We have that eagle observation center in southern Minnesota, and people come from all over the U.S. and around the world to visit. We also have a hawk center, which I believe is run by the University of Minnesota (but not 100 percent sure). Eagles and hawks are so fun to watch and so beautiful and majestic when they are flying.

I think the goose is fine. We went back again and I did not see any geese that looked hurt. I have a photo of the one that flew into the tree. I will have to enlarge it and make sure I see no injuries.

We had cloudy skies with the sun peeking through every now and then. I looked up and saw an area in the sky where a heart had formed and inside of the heart was blue skies. When we got home the blue sky which had turned into more of a circle was almost directly over our house!

I have seen them several times. I think I even sold one on a photo site many years ago. I didn't have my camera. 😢

A few days ago I saw a huge yacht that had it's own helicopter. It was on Lake Michigan near Chicago. The water was such a beautiful turquoise color with different shades of blue in other areas. I have never seen a helicopter on a yacht in person before.

Today I looked in the mirror. Well, you said to list anything "odd." hahaha! 😉
