Hello Friends,
I am not huge into award shows, especially now that there are so many that actors/stars us to sing praises to themselves. However, I have always been a big Academy Awards (Oscars) fan and a Grammy's fan. My brother and I used to watch the Oscars together, and he had a regular wealth of trivia when it came to the Academy Awards. He could tell you who and what movie won for many years past.
What do you think of the nominees? Are there any movies that should not be on that list or any that did not make the list that you would have liked to have seen there?
I really, really want The Help to win, but I am not sure what the predictions are yet. I also want Viola Davis to win for "The Help."
Typically, I haven't seen that many movies when the list comes out, and sometimes I don't get to view many until AFTER the awards show, but I am going to try to watch as many as I can before February 26, 2012.
What do you think of this list of nominees, friends? Have you seen many movies on the list? Do you plan to watch some of the listed movies?

hope777 Forum AngelI think the Best Supporting Actress category is interesting, because two of my favorite characters from The Help are up against one another. I like to speculate/guess who is going to win, but I will wait until closer to the time, plus I have to watch a few more of the movies.
In the SAME category is Melissa McCarthy for Bridesmaids. That is going to be a tough one, but I would be surprised if she gets it.
One thing I do not like is how they added so many movies to the Best Picture category. They used to only have five (?) or so, and now there is like ten? I don't care for that.
Any other movie buffs out there? 🙂

But I tell you what I do like a competition, so how about we start a league or something to guess the winners in a few of the more popular categories? I am thinking 10 CLchips to enter the competition and the winner takes them all. You would have to nominate who you think will win each category like Best Pic, Director, Actor, Supporting Actor, Actress, Supporting Actress, Special Effects, and Animated Film.
What do you guys think? Would you be in it?

I would LOVE to do this, and I was even thinking about something like that (not for CL chips, but just for fun!) If we could get enough interested members. Maybe I will send a few PMs later to direct people here? Sounds like a lot of fun, CL-ED!
Like I said, I think they overdo the awards shows now, but this is the only one I never miss (and sometimes the Grammys).

Well, thank you for your consideration, Mr. Bingo. You obviously have the right to decide how you want to spend your CL Chips! I like a very wide variety of movies, and genres, known and little known. I guess I am just a huge movie buff all the way around. 🙂

I'm not either very interested in Oscars, as I'm interested in more old movies, even hollywood old ones. But every year, I make my predictions or have a one or two movies nominated watched, then if they get any awards, I make my impressions about the whole Oscar awards 😀 sounds foolish, I know 😀)

I also don't like that they added so many movies to the Best Picture category, which they did a few years back. However, this is the only awards show that I do make it kind of a tradition to watch. I enjoy the clips from the documentary and short animation films, and also the foreign films, many of which I learn about on Oscar night.
One year my boys and I won a party pack and they sent us ballots and snacks and we had our own Academy Award night and made our predictions. It was fun. 🙂
