What a sweet dachshund. It really put up with a lot of abuse from that baby! I kept saying "ouch" for the poor little pup. The baby was so funny shaking it's head like the dog. 🙂

Yes, it kind of scared me the way the baby was in the dog's face and trying to eat the dog's nose, lol! Shows how very gentle our dachsies can be, but believe me not all. They can be nippy sometimes, depending upon the personality of the dog.

Peacemakers Basketball League: for rival gangs

http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshh5p71j4IDnmR2Rlw3

I listed to part of a story on National Public Radio/Minnesota Public Radio (NPR/MPR) on Saturday. The reporters spent two days with students at a high school a rough section of Chicago. These are kids whose days consist of school, staying after school at some type of program for as long as they can, then walking straight home and staying in, not even venturing out to their porches.

During the interview with the football team, it was revealed that "unless you are a freshman," every single member of the football team had been shot at or shot at some point in their lives.

One young man, who was to be valedictorian at his school stays in his house, even holding Bible studies in his home, and he has tried hard to resist gang life. But he said, as a result, he has few friends, stays in his room a lot and has led a very lonely life, just trying to stay alive long enough to graduate high school.

I had to feel a sense of gratefulness that my three dear sons did not have to grow up in such an environment.

I commend those, like those who started the basketball league for looking for solutions instead of assuming all kids are the problem.

This kind of things lies heavy on my heart.

That is great, lol! If you all like that one, be sure to watch The Daily Show/Jon Stewart's take on the Russian meteor AND drivers that I posted the other day.

Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Isn't the puppy just so darn TINY? lol! It is difficult to remember Otis that small, but he was. Otis has NEVER paid attention to mirrors. That is cute that Molly did. I wonder why some do and some do not seem to see themselves in a mirror?

We had just brought Molly home, and she was missing her siblings. She was so happy to see one of her (her) siblings in the mirror, but it responded just as she did. She was sad to not be able to tackle it.

That dachshund was so cute that it made me want to adopt it.

Read the reviews on this product. If this doesn't make you laugh, nothing will. http://www.amazon.com/Hutzler-5717-571-Banana-Slicer/dp/B0047E0EII/ref=s...

Those are funny. Funnier is the fact there are almost 4,000 reviews for this ONE product. Thanks for sharing. I definitely got a laugh out of several of those reviews. 🙂

OMGod in heaven, I wish I had not seen the photos on this page. But thank God, I can post this in "make me smile." I have never seen a dog so near death come back to life. I would not have thought it possible. I hope all people who are cruel to animals will literally rot in hell if there is a hell. And, yes, I feel strongly about this topic.

Hope, I can't even look at this if there is some type of abuse involved. Is there?

Yes, but it has a very, very happy ending. The dog was near starved to death, and the picture shows how it looked when it was at its thinnest, and it is hard to believe it came back from that. I promise it IS a happy story.
