Firsts

23 replies • Last post

We have started a new year. What are some of your "firsts" for this year? If you number your firsts, it will be fun to find out how many firsts we did by the end of the year.

1. Today I saw our first snowfall of at least 4-5 inches of snow with more to come for the first time this year.
2. Today I shoveled my walk for the first time this year.
3. I ate pea soup today for the first time this year.
4. I received some pretty flowers for the first time this year.
5. I played online tournaments for the first time this year although it wasn't today it was this year.
6. I made my first Kiva loan of this year last week.
7. I took my dog to the vet for the first time this year.
8. I ate in a restaurant for the first time this year.
9. I made my first Ebay buy recently.
10. I made my first online purchase (not Ebay) for a special person in my life yesterday.

What are some of your firsts for the year of 2012?

I am not sure, LM, if you want me to start at number one or eleven, but I think you want me to start with number eleven, so I hope I am correct. I can't wait until someone (mememe!) can post their FIRST HUGE JACKPOT! Wink

11. I asked my first clarifying question in this thread this year. (lol)
12. I ate my first order of Native American Fry Bread (nice and warm) this year. YUM!
13. I came home to a clean house for the first time this year!
14. I went to the Mall of America for the first time in MANY years this year.
15. I ate at Bubba Gump's restaurant in Minnesota at the MOA for the first time ever and the first time this year (even though I have eaten at Bubba Gumps in four or five other states BEFORE my own!).
16. I ate coconut shrimp for the first time this year.
17. I went through a Mirror Maze at the MOA for the first time ever and the first time this year.

I wanted to you to start your own list at number one. That way at the end of the year you can see how many firsts you did. Sorry for not being clear.
#11. funny
#12. sounds so good, yum
#13. That would be great!
#14. I have never been there or to Minnesota.
#15. I wonder where they get their seafood from. It sounds delicious
#16. Shrimp is one of my favorite foods. I have never had coconut shrimp.
#17. I think I would be dizzy by the time I left that place.

Hope, You can just start your next list at #8 and it will work out fine. This is fun learning stuff everyone is doing.

Okay! Well I had a 50/50 chance of guessing correctly, and I guessed wrong, lol! I thought you meant a total of "community firsts," but I get it now! I will start at number 8 when I post again. Wink

8. I rescued my first abandon pet of 2012. Someone left their BEAUTIFUL grey, long-haired cat in the stairwell, and my sons brought it in, because it is scared to death. No one has reported it missing, and it is as cuddly and affectionate as can be. It is frightened and will not eat or drink, but it went right to the little box. (My dog and cat are both having a FIT, so I am locked in the bathroom with the stray, lol). Our community has a program called, "Pets Under Police Security," and I spent the last hour trying to make sure it is a "no-kill" shelter. The police are coming soon to bring it there. This breaks my heart.

9. I found the owner (with the help of building residents) for a cat we thought "abandon" in 2012. The owner was sleeping, and had alcohol on her breath and had no idea her cat was wandering the building. I AM happy it won't have to go to a cold shelter and thankful I ran into the guys who recognized the cat! (I was just about to hand it over to the cop).

Hope, Are these police like humane society? Haha, I had to correct...I had human society. I'm so glad you found the owner. Poor cat.

PUPS is a five-county organization to house stray animals. They hold them a certain number of days to give owners a chance to find them, then they start trying to adopt them out after that. This is the first I ever heard of this place.

13. I made my very first spaghetti and meatballs of 2012.
14. I baked my first batch of cookies of the new year (after baking a TON in December). They were VERY good cookies, and I received them as a gift from my niece, you know those cookie gifts in a jar where they mix up the dry ingredients and all I had to add was an egg, vanilla, and a stick of butter. They had white chocolate chips and craisins in them, and lots of both and YUM! Smile
