Lucky "charms," and superstitions

14 replies • Last post

Hello again, Friends!

I have been thinking about all the little things that people do that they think will help them WIN, and I wonder if you have any you can share.

At land casinos, I see people waving their hand across the screen and/or tap on the screen, as if that will bring them good luck (and, frankly, sometimes that drives me crazy, lol). I have a friend who won a big jackpot (land-based) after she went through the player menu, so now she will stop playing, every now and then, and go through the player menu, then back to play, even though that was, most likely, a coincidence. haha!

My brother has his luck "blackjack hat," and he won't go to the casino without it. And, I am sure some have their own "lucky charms," including the proverbial rabbit's foot. My son does the same with his lucky Packer's shirt during football games, but that is another story, I guess. Let's talk casinos (land-based and online).

What about you? Do you try anything that you think will increase your chances to win, but probably is just a "lucky charm" or superstition? Do you dare admit it to us? Oh, come on! We are all friends here, and we promise not to laugh. 😉

Please share! 🙂

I have a lucky Detroit Tigers hat that I wear everywhere. I make sure to gamble with it on, and used it in my bachelor days...

Of course I know its nonsense, but I always do well with the hat and will continue to wear it (even though it started navy blue and is now purplish due to sweat and grime).

Ewwww.....sweat and grime, lol! Well, whatever works, right? I didn't address that part of the equation: I am sure there are many "lucky" articles of clothing that people refuse to launder. haha!

My mother has a "lucky" necklace that she swears by. Every time she wins at bingo she gives full credit to the necklace. Last week she won a turkey, leg of lamb, a basket of fruit and a bottle of wine, all on one day at bingo. Who am I to argue against that?

Wow! All that at Bingo? And with the power of the "lucky necklace?" Well, you go, MOM! lol! I don't play Bingo very often, and I have NEVER won, but I sure enjoy trying. Your mom IS really lucky, or should I say her necklace is? 😉

I swear this is true. Yesterday she won 5 trays of meat at bingo. She has turned into a bingo nutter! She travels around and plays 2 or 3 different games almost every day now. She brought round the meat to put in my freezer but we don't have room for it all.

LOL a lucky necklace should be quite a common thing for bingo players 😂 It's just we that do not understand 😂 My mom doesn't gamble, but she told me she had a lucky t-shirt with a Mickey Mouse on it, and wore it on each and every exam 😂

A lucky t-shirt, with Mickey Mouse, yet, GM? That is too funny.

I think these lucky charms/hats/shirts are funny, and I know that my sons and my brothers also have items they use when their favorite teams are playing sports. Too funny that they believe wearing a certain hat will cause their team to make a touchdown they would not have made if they hadn't worn that hat during the game, right? lol!

My friend thinks if she puts a 100 dollar bill in a machine at the casino that it will pay off better than if she only inserts a 20 dollar bill. She won't play the entire hundred, only ten or twenty, then withdraw the ticket, but she believes the machine likes bigger bills and thus, will pay out more. lol

CL-Ed, I have to laugh at your term Bingo Nutter. That would describe my mom. She has so many superstitions and lucky charms. I did buy her a necklace and she won at bingo while wearing it, so now that is a lucky necklace. She has 4 leaf clovers, buckeyes, coins and I'm sure other things I don't know about.

She used to call me before she went to bingo because I am her lucky charm too. One day I wished her Good Luck but she didn't win. She has told me not to wish her good luck anymore.........🙂

Haha! She won't call you anymore before Bingo now, LuckyMe. Tooo funny. Sounds like your mom has an entire "arsenal" of Lucky Charms to ensure a big win. Does she ever share the wealth? lol!

When I lived in the area, she would make sure she touched me, lol, if she was going to bingo that night. She has shared her wealth. She believes if she gives, she receives.......but not if she gives only to receive. It only works if you don't expect anything in return.

Your mom has a great attitude about giving and receiving! I have to say that I agree. 🙂

I received a "lucky charm bracelet" as a Christmas gift from my brother and sister-in-law! lol (speaking of best and worst gifts AND lucky charms here). I LOVE the bracelet. It is very pretty. It is a charm bracelet and it has many charms, like a an elephant, a wish bone, a horseshoe, something made of jade (can't remember right now and I am not viewing it), and some other lucky symbols plus a circle with my name engraved on it!

My SIL said I can wear it next time I go to the casino. I think I should wear it every day, even to bed, lol, the way my luck has been the last two years. I told her I hope it reverses this "curse" of the last couple of years and brings nothing but GOOD luck! I will definitely have to try it by wearing it during my next trip to the land casino, lol.

I just had to share. 🙂
