Love these! "Adult Truths" Can anyone relate? lol!

31 replies • Last post

I just received these in my email, and I can't copy and paste, so I am actually typing these out. I thought they were worth sharing.

23 Adult Truths:

1. Sometimes I will look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you are wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
4. There is a great need for a sarcasm font.
5. Was learning cursive really necessary?
6. Mapquest really needs to start their directions on #5. I am pretty sure I know how to get out of my own neighborhood.
7. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
8. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't, at least, kind-of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore what comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to re-start my collection....again.
13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.
14. Oops! Looks like 14 and 15 are missing in the email, making this 21 Adult Truths, lol
15. Missing!
16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night, more kisses begin with Miller Light than with Kay.
17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
18. I have a hard time deciphering that fine line between boredom and hunger.
19. How many times is it appropriate to say, "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?
20. I love the sense of camaraderie when a line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!
21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
22. Even under ideal conditions, people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phones, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - bit I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from three feet away in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first and every time.
23. The first tentacular guard, "The Cup" was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize their brain is also important. (Ladies, stop laughing!)

So, which ones are your favorites, CL friends? Of course, I had a great laugh with #23, lol! I also could relate to #13 (I HATE when that happens, lol!) and I agree with #16. I feel that I do #19 too much, because I swear I am hard of hearing from all those loud concerts I attended when younger. I am always saying, "what?" to my boys, and I am sure I drive them half crazy, lol. But, I really DO want to know what they heck they are saying. They will often ask if I am deaf, and my reply is always, "yes! and I have told you this MANY times!"

I hope you enjoyed my little list. I love these types of lists, because they are so real and most can relate to at least a few. Let's hear yours!

Best wishes,

Hope

Its all about #8 for me! Fitted sheets are impossible to work out. I was just cursing them the other day as I folded up some washing.

#6 about not needing directions from my own house made me laugh and #21 is so true!

Thank you for sharing, CL-Ed, but no comment, at all, on number twenty-three? lol! I thought for sure you might have something to say about that one, being of the male species. haha!

I hope others will read and share their favorites. Took me a while to type all that out, lol! 😉

You know what, now that you mention it, its probably the same in cricket. When batting you wear a thing called a "box", aka the "hector protector" aka ... you get the point.

It caused much laughter when KFC, who sponsor the cricket coverage, released a lunch combo thing a few years ago and called it the "Cricketer's box". Mmmmm... eating chicken out of a cricketer's box... tasty. 🤢

Anyway I believe they have been around for over a hundred years but the batsmen only started wearing helmets in the late 1970s / early 1980s. When I played cricket as a kid I always wore a box, but no helmet.

So there you go, its a common trait around the world!

So, CL-Ed is confirming this is a "universal thing," with men. Funny story about KFC, too! haha!

I had three boys in sports, and being a single mom, it was always fun having to go out and find and buy all their "protective gear," lol.

Number 23 is a "fun fact," and one I did not know about before, so I guess we really do learn something new everyday, lol!

Actually you know what sucks even more than #2?

When you reach that moment but decide to keep arguing anyway and hope the other person concedes. But then you reach a point where you know that the other person knows that you know that you're wrong. That is real ugly (and confusing to write).

Are you sure you know what you know what you are writing? lol Just kidding. I get it. And, I agree. The thought enters one's mind, "Why didn't I stop this much sooner," but something in you makes you keep trying to prove your point, even though, at that point, it is futile. Too funny, CL-Ed!

You know what, I used to do #19 all the time when I went to pubs and clubs when I was bit younger when the music was pumping real loud. The worst thing is the next day your friend says you agreed to do something, or go out with their girlfriend's ugly friend, and you can't remember ever hearing anything about it.

I have to comment on a few others. Does number one happen to anyone else, or is this just an "old age" thing? lol! I swear I do this several times a week where something just does not COMPUTE!

Number three: I have never been a napper, but the way I feel some days, I wish I would have napped when I had more time on my hands, i.e. when I was younger.

Number four just speaks for itself, doesn't it? Love it. I think this should really be looked into more closely, lol.

This list made me laugh. I can relate to many of these.
#2. I've done this. Red face here.
#4. I could use this button daily.
#5. My grandson will not be learning cursive writing. They aren't teaching it anymore.
#6. If I get lost getting out of my own driveway then I shouldn't be driving.
#8. Oh come on.........you tuck the fitted ends together and just act like the sheet is square.
#16. Ha ha, so true.
#20. This is my favorite.

I used to be "square-sheet challenged," too, but I am getting better. Must come with practice. Only sometimes it turns out folded neatly, and other times it doesn't, so maybe I just get lucky when it turns out to be folded neatly, lol.

Whenever I do towels and sheets, I fold them nicely and put them away. The next time I go to get a towel they are all messed up. How does that happen?

There is a sheet gremlin in the linen closet who is playing tricks on you. Kind of like the sock "disappearer" who makes that ONE sock disappear each time we do the wash so we have to keep buying new socks, lol.

I hear you loud and clear on this one, Sophia! 😢 It is not fun to not have the type of energy I had when I was younger. I also have a health condition in which one of the main symptoms is debilitating fatigue. I am an active person, so it has been difficult for me to adjust to this "new me," but I do have hope that I will get well and have even a little more energy, again someday.

On the other hand, my 83 year old mother (all of a sudden I can't remember if she just turned 82 or 83 in November! Geesh! lol) can run circles around me! She said she has slowed down in the past year or two, but I don't see it, lol!

Here is to NO sleep deprivation and LOTS OF ENERGY in the New Year!

Cheers! 🙂

It has been so wonderful with the warmer temperatures and NO measurable snow so far. I could get use to this. The sky was so beautiful today. It was blue, almost a purple with blue in it...so pretty. There was not a cloud in the sky. I hope we don't jinx ourselves and get a foot of snow now.

On a trip to the er my boyfriend commented how they were not busy. The guy said "don't say that!" He didn't want to be jinxed.

This is another episode of "True Confessions," starring Ubetcha! lol! I just wanted to say that I can relate to both numbers eleven and nineteen, Ubetcha. What? (lol!)
