There are lots of movies about casinos, gambling, etc. They are usually very good ones, thrilling and with interesting plot.

My favourite one is 21. What's yours?

Owning Mahoney is not a new movie, but a little gem I found at a garage sale or thrift store, probably. It IS based on a true story, and I really do like Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He can act in almost any role, which reminds me of another movie to list in our basic movie thread, that is a "oldy but goody" and also based on a true story. I really do like the movie, even though you feel like you are watching a bad train wreck.

Sounds like a good one! I have never heard of this movie before, and I really like Richard Dreyfuss. Looks like a 1989 movie I am going to see if it is free to stream on Netflix. Thanks!

Well, unfortunately, it is not "free to stream" on Netflix, and I reduced my membership to just "free to stream," due to the costs related to Netflix. However, the member reviews back up what you are saying about this movie. All fours and fives, with mostly fives (out of five, of course). I will have to keep searching, and if I can't find it online, maybe Amazon will have a copy to purchase for a reasonable amount. Looks worth a few bucks, for sure! Thanks, again! 🙂

Hope you can get hold of it Hope 🙂 - it is brilliant... The Croupier also gets a big thumbs up from me and if you like gritty british drama, the BBC recently did something called "Moving On: Punter" - its on the iplayer on BBC.com but not sure of you can stream it from where you are.. Its sad but gripping if you like this sort of movie about gambling/addiction...... 🙂

Maybe I will add the movie to my Christmas list. 😉 I will also search for the others you mention. I like a wide variety of films, documentaries, series, etc., depending upon my mood, etc.

Thanks, again! 🙂

The Croupier is classics...... The movie is widely appreciated! Although I do not usually watch the movies other recommend, this one was an exception! It is more than worth watching!

Thanks for "seconding" that one, GM! You all have me curious. Now, my turn for a question? Why aren't you watching all these wonderful movies we are recommending? You don't trust our judgement or you don't have time or you are not a big movie watcher? Curious minds want to know, dear GM. 😉
