What Does Your Screen Name Mean?

28 replies • Last post

I have gotten extremely curious reading the forum posts by all of the members here. What exactly does your screen name stand for? I get the idea from a few of them, but several others leave me completely baffled.

I'll start; Barbadosslim93 comes from the show Futurama. In one of the episodes, the company accountant Hermes is getting set to take part in a limbo competition only to encounter his chief rival Barbados Slim. I really liked that name for some reason and coupled it with the number I used to wear during my hockey playing days 93.

How about yours?

Savannah is the black cat's name in my profile pic. I had to leave my cats behind when I moved overseas. I opted not to remove them from their home. They would be quarantined here for who knows how long. They weren't disrupted and that makes me happy.

Well, I told you I learn something new every day! I did not realize that your name was not "Casino Listing's Ed," or that "Ed" was to mean "Editor." NOW, I am curious, too. What is your real name, CL-Editor? haha!

My screen name comes from one of my favorite words. I just love the word, and the name, "Hope," and I love quotes that talk about hope, and I even have a necklace I wear that says, "hope." I especially love the Emily Dickinson poem,

"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,"

(First Verse)

I have hope for many things in my life, and I am hoping to win a big jackpot, and hope keeps me going (as it does many), because we never know what might be right around the corner in our lives. I added the sevens, because I have always considered seven to be my lucky/favorite number. 🙂

I thought CL-Ed's name was Ed too. I will have to see if I have an email from him to see what his real name is. This will bug me now until I know.

My name is because I (Me) am Lucky. (most of the time)

Love it! I think this is a fun thread. At first, I thought your name was Barbara, before closer inspection, lol. That is a cool story. I am always interested in screen names, and how people come up with them, in forums, poker rooms, etc., too. 🙂

Great avatar. We need to have a guess the CL-Ed's name. My avatar is not my favorite flower but I will wait a little bit to change it.

I think I will affectionately call him Cled. 🙂 That way he's not hyphenated. I bet that hurts.

As you probably know I recently broke my arm. Last Friday I had to go get another x-ray and that revealed the break was worse than first thought, so I now have a cast that goes from almost my armpit to my wrist with my elbow fixed at a 90 degree angle. And my wife is away on a business trip for a week so I am left with two young children to care for. Needless to say that is difficult with a broken arm so I have been with the in-laws all weekend and they have pretty much saved my life! But it hasn't left much spare time for anything else.

I am so sorry to hear that. It's hard enough raising children when well. There are so many things we use our arms for that we don't even realize. I will be saying a prayer for healing for you if that it ok. Hang in there. It has to be hard to type too.

I figured that your short absence had something to do with your arm, CL-Ed! I thought it would just be too difficult to type! Now it sounds as if it will be even MORE difficult. Good grief, you poor man! Thank goodness for your kind in-laws. I hope you heal quickly, too!
