Review of Real Deal Bet Casino
As the online betting industry continues to grow, we are seeing more and more sites that carry endorsements from celebrities. We have seen the likes of diminutive actor Verne Troyer and playboy Dan Bilzerian, along with football star Cristiano Ronaldo as brand ambassadors for various betting sites. Zapzap Marketing Ltd is the latest to follow in these steps, hiring boxing legend Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield to be both the name and face of their new brand Real Deal Bet. I'm sure that is awesome for name recognition, particularly for the sports betting side of the business, but on the other hand I'm thinking that naming your gambling business after a guy who famously squandered a $200 million fortune perhaps isn't the best idea.
Warning: unencrypted login and registration
I ran into a major issue with this casino when preparing to register for an account. By default the site does not run on an encrypted SSL connection, and my attempts to force it by entering "https" directly in the browser's URL bar were unsuccessful, with the server redirecting me back to the unencrypted URL. So I was careful to verify that it would submit my name, address and other personal information via an encrypted connection. Alas, it does not, and as a security conscious person, that was enough for me to stop right there and refuse to register my personal information. Nobody should register at this site at all until this problem is fixed, as it is possible that your personal details and/or login and password could be intercepted by any computer that your communication passes through between your computer and the site's server. Such lax security is simply unacceptable in this day and age for a site that handles sensitive financial information.
Software and game selection
Real Deal Bet consists of a web-based platform that offers a full betting service including a sportsbook, casino, and live dealer casino. The casino side of things is powered by Microgaming Quickfire, Net Entertainment, BetSoft, and iSoftBet, providing players with a huge library of games. There are two (non-live) casino-related tabs to choose from on the site: "casino" and "games". But strangely there doesn't appear to be any difference between the tabs other than the same games being listed in a different order.
The main offering at this casino is the video slot library, and players will find both unique and licensed games such as Bridesmaids, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Playboy, Game of Thrones, and several others. All in all, there are upwards of 190 slot machines to choose from. The casino also offers a series of progressive jackpots from the above-mentioned developers. The headliner is Microgaming's potential multi-million dollar Mega Moolah progressive slots jackpot, though sadly the site does not offer any of Net Entertainment's big progressives like Mega Fortune or Hall of Gods.
I was impressed by the large number of blackjack, roulette, and video poker games available at Real Deal Bet, as the casino offers 25, 28, and 33 games in each category respectively, providing many variants of these popular Vegas games. The site also boasts a live dealer casino, which offers baccarat, blackjack, and roulette games in both single and multi-player formats. I also was able to access the casino through my iPad, as the casino has a mobile betting site (although not all games are available on this platform).
Security, fairness, and responsible gaming
As mentioned above I was unwilling to enter my personal information over an insecure connection. However in order to gauge the process, I pressed on using fake details. Do not do the same if you intend to deposit money as it is against the site's terms of service and will get you banned when you try to withdraw! Registering an account was a simple process that involved entering my personal details onto a one page form. The site does redirect you to an encrypted connection when you attempt to deposit, so depositing money at that point should be secure. However that does not prevent a bad guy who may have logged your details via the earlier unencrypted connection from logging in to your account and having full access to your funds.
The casino does not post any independent audits of its software, nor any RTP numbers or monthly payout numbers, apart from the games that have such information as part of their help files (i.e. Net Entertainment games). Given the casino's large array of top-notch and well known development partners, I am confident that the games are on the level. The site is licensed to operate from Curacao, which I regard as a weak licensing jurisdiction, as there is no official dispute resolution process or binding arbitration process to assist you in the event of a dispute. However the casino's operator is registered with the well regarded UK-based IBAS (independent Betting Adjudication Service), which gives me some reassurance that there is some sort of recourse if things did go sour.
Responsible Gaming is only really paid lip service, with none of the typical controls available to automatically limit your deposits, play time, or wagers that I have become used to seeing at modern casinos in licensed jurisdictions. You can self-exclude yourself for a period of up to five years or close your account if need be, but it needs to be done via email request through customer support.
Banking and customer support options
Transactions are handled through credit card, Skrill, and Neteller for deposits and withdrawals, with the payout times stated to range from 1-2 business days for e-Wallets and 3-5 days for credit card withdrawals. As I alluded to above, I was unable (or perhaps more correctly unwilling) to test the deposit and withdrawal times due to the casino's lack of SSL encryption in the registration and login process. I did note that the casino has a rather limited payout limit of only €2000 per week, and the wagering requirements on the sign up bonuses are, at 45 times the deposit plus bonus, well beyond what I would consider fair. Caveat emptor.
Customer Support is available through instant message, phone, fax, and email 24 hours a day. I found the customer service in the chat to be fast to respond, but they were of little help when I pointed out the lack of security in the login process and to be frank, did not really understand what I was talking about. That is not so surprising though, and I have filed a report with their management.
I was initially reasonably impressed with what I saw at Real Deal Bet, as the site offers a big betting package that includes a large library of games, some big jackpots, and attentive service. However the site is held back by small withdrawal limits and some steep wagering requirements on bonuses. Ultimately I cannot recommend that anyone play at this casino until, at a minimum, the lack of security in the login and registration process is fixed.
