Review of Prime Casino
Prime Casino is an online betting site that has been online since 2007, originally as a Microgaming-ony download casino, but more recently as a multi-software casino owned and operated by Prime Gaming. While the casino boasts a wide selection of games for their customers from several prominent and trusted developers, Prime Casino is run by SkillOnNet, a company suspected of running software that isn't fair to customers, and as such is a place I recommend you avoid.
Software and game selection
Prime Casino offers a large selection of games, mixing together titles from developers such as Net Entertainment, SkillOnNet, NextGen Gaming, Barcrest, WMS Gaming, IGT and more. The platform is provided by gaming supplier SkillOnNet, a company with an unfortunately shady reputation amongst casino players. The casino's registration process is very easy and actually will let you sign up from anywhere in the world, although the games are locked down by region and thus prevents punters from accessing games that they are not supposed to. You can either play on the website using your browser, or download and install some casino software if you have a Windows PC.
SkillOnNet: accusations of cheating software
While I think that you are safe playing the games from developers like WMS, IGT and Net Entertainment, it has to be noted that SkillOnNet's software is highly suspect, and there is evidence to suggest that is has worked in a manner that is not fair to players in the past. The most prominent case involves the double up feature found on SkillOnNet video poker. After various player complaints made over a couple of years, an independent analysis and test found that after 301 double or nothing gambles (with a supposed 50% chance of a win), the tester experienced 193 losses and 108 wins.
The probability of that happening in a fair game is 1 in 1,008,339, which is definitely nowhere near impossible. However with separate, independent, complaints about the game showing similar results, the odds that the game was not cheating are negligibly small. SkillOnNet was made aware of this analysis and within a day or two, their video poker gamble feature started returning normal results, indicating that either the "bug" was fixed, or that the software may be configurable to return a specific payout instead of being truly random. No player was ever compensated, nor was the "bug" ever acknowledged by SkillOnNet. I recommend that you avoid playing at any casino that runs on their platform, as this episode clearly demonstrates that the company and its games are not trustworthy.
Banking and customer support
Banking at Prime Casino is diverse enough to offer up enough options for most punters, and payment times for winnings are reasonably quick. In the past users have reported receiving payouts as quickly as 2 hours to e-Wallet, while bank wires and credit card payments can take somewhere between 2-4 business days.
Customer support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through email, telephone, and instant messaging. I did take to the chat function to ask a few questions and found the staff fast to respond and able to answer all of my questions. However they were incredulous and disconnected me when I asked about the cheating scandal, which in hindsight I probably should not have expected a customer service agent to know about.
Security and fairness
Prime Casino protects your private information as they use SSL data encryption to make sure that your information is secure as you transmit info both to and from the casino.
Fairness is kind of a moot point with Prime Casino given SkillOnNet's previous history of having software that isn't fair, but still the company does boast that they have an accreditation from iTech Labs in Australia stating that the random number generator is within Danish standards.
On the surface nothing is really wrong with the way Prime Casino presents itself, but the fact that SkillOnNet's software has been caught cheating in the past is a huge red flag for me, and I would hope that punters keep this in mind before making a decision as to whether to play at this casino.
