Review of Karamba Casino
If you're like me you're probably mentally picturing Bart Simpson right about now exclaiming "ay karamba!" in surprise. Bart popularised the expression with Spanish origin which is roughly the equivalent of an English speaker saying "oh my gosh". I'm not sure whether it applies to this casino, but the site's tagline of "slots 'n fun" suits it well, as the inital impression is of a colourful and inviting website filled with fun looking games.
Game selection at Karamba
Karamba is a NeoGames property which has a bunch of games that you probably haven't seen at too many other casinos. Aside from several original slot machines, NeoGames is particularly strong in that most peculiar of online gambling games, the scratchcard. You know already whether you love them or hate them, and if you love them, then this is a great place to play. There were 33 different scratchcards and scratch-slots (yes truly, I will explain shortly) on offer when we tested the casino with titles such as Horoscope, Royal Wedding, World Champions and Elvis Forever standing out.
The scratch-slots were something I can honestly say I'd never seen or even imagined before and to be perfectly honest I'm not in a hurry to go back to them. You are presented with a screen showing 3 or more slots which are then "spun" and you win a prize if the paylines match the prize tables. They are an extremely simplified cross between a scratchcard and a slot machine and are, dare I say it, not much fun, especially in comparison with some of the other games on offer at this casino.
Speaking of which, Karamba also features a more familiar selection of some of the best games from Net Entertainment such as Gonzo's Quest, Starburst, Eggomatic, Lucky Angler and Elements. Unfortunately you won't find the progressive slots featuring massive jackpots such as Mega Fortune or Hall of Gods and, if you read the bonus terms closely, you will find that the wagering requirements on the decent looking first deposit bonus are in fact doubled when you play the games from Net Entertainment.
In addition you can play a few assorted games from NextGen such as the DC Comics series of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman slots. There are other traditional casino games such as Roulette, 3 Card Poker, Mini Baccarat, and a couple of variations of Video Poker. These sorts of games really aren't the focus of the site though and this is reflected in the small selection on offer.
Game fairness and auditing
The games from NeoGames at Karamba are certified to use a statistically random RNG by a third party auditor iTech labs. Each of their scratchcards has a 1 in 3 chance of being a winner and, unlike your local newsagent, the site will tell you if the major prize in a scratchcard run has already been won before you decide to buy a card. The games from Net Entertainment publish their theoretical RTP percentages in the game help files. Apart from that, Karamba does not publish any audited payout statistics based on real world payouts in previous months.
Customer service and banking options
Customer service personnel may be contacted via phone, email or live chat, and there are local phone numbers for you to call depending on the country you live in. Support is available 17 hours a day, with them offline between midnight and 7am GMT. The site and customer support crew are available in 10 different languages and several European currencies.
Karamba offers players a comprehensive array of banking methods with which you can transact with the casino. All major e-wallets including Paypal, as well as credit cards and many country specific bank transfer services are accepted for deposits. Withdrawals may be made to e-wallets, bank accounts and Visa cards, after a 48 hour reversal pending period. Suffice to say that a 48 hour period of delay and temptation is something we don't really like to see at an online casino. That said, our e-wallet withdrawal to Neteller was handled within a day after the reversal period which was good to see. Withdrawals are limited to a maximum of €10,000 per month, with amounts in excess of this limit placed back into a player's account, requiring them to withdraw again the next month.
One last thing that I was really impressed with was the way Karamba allows players to set daily and weekly deposit limits, as well as opting to self exclude themselves from the casino for periods of up to 6 months at a time. This is accessible within the casino lobby to every player and shows that the casino takes the prevention of problem gambling seriously.
Karamba is, at the very least, an interesting casino and I was happy to play somewhere fun with games that were new to me. The best games at the site are definitely the Net Entertainment slots, but punters should beware the doubled wagering requirements on these games if claiming a bonus. The scratchcards and scratch-slots definitely aren't my cup of tea, but if you do like these games there are plenty on the site to keep you amused.
