Review of Joo Casino
Joo Casino is the latest incarnation of Princess Casino, which had previously gone by the name of Princess Star. Despite going through more name changes than Prince, the casino has held its own as being a decent spot to play at. We decided to take a new look at Joo Casino with the newest name change to determine if it remained a place worth playing.
Software and game selection
Joo Casino is a "white label" skin running on the SoftSwiss platform. SoftSwiss aggregates games from a bunch of developers including Amatic Industries, Net Entertainment, Endorphina, GameArt, Habanero, NextGen, Thunderkick, and SoftSwiss itself. The casino's layout itself is pretty standard without being remarkable, and it looks good enough and does the job. Games load up directly through your internet browser and compatibility with mobile devices is included, allowing you the chance to play on smartphones or tablets.
The game selection is varied, with an array of slots, table games, video poker, and parlour games all being offered. As of the publication of this review there were just under 700 slots on offer, the majority of which are 5-reel affairs. Unfortunately this casino offers games from Betsoft and Pragmatic Play, two companies with a less than stellar reputation for fairness and as usual we warn you to avoid their games. There are a bunch of progressive jackpots available to be won, but some prominent names like the Mega Fortune and Hall of Gods progressives are missing despite the presence of other Net Ent games.
Table games are also available, offering up a large number of games like blackjack, roulette, craps, poker, and other games to punters. There are also several variations available to bump up game numbers, and live dealer games are also distributed through the site.
Banking and customer support
The banking system is solid, offering deposits and withdrawals through credit cards, bank transfer, or eWallets. The currencies available include Bitcoin, Euro, Rubles, Krona, and U.S. Dollars. However as I have come to expect from other SoftSwiss casinos, the currencies are held separately once you deposit into the casino and you can't convert between them. Not all games are available for Bitcoin play for example, so if you deposit Bitcoin you are restricted to the games that allow play with the electronic cash, and you cannot convert it into Euros to play other games.
Having said that, the best way to transact money at this casino is through Bitcoin, as it allows for the fastest withdrawal times. My test withdrawal backs this up as it came through in under an hour after submission. There is a maximum weekly withdrawal limit of $/€4000 or 1 BTC, which is fairly low and does not compare favourably with other SoftSwiss casinos which are otherwise more or less identical.
Customer support is available through live chat and email around the clock. The team is quick to respond and was able to answer most basic questions I threw their way.
Security, fairness, and responsible gaming policies
Joo Casino uses industry standard SSL encryption to protect player data. This is used throughout the industry by responsible casinos as it protects your private information while it is in transit between you and the casino's servers so that it cannot be read by any third parties.
The casino holds a Curacao gaming license, which isn't known for meaning much at all. Casinos operating out of Curacao are largely unregulated and there are no official arbitrators or dispute resolution procedures to follow should you have a grievance with the casino. There is no useful information provided about the fairness of the games at this casino, aside from the providers such as Net Ent that disclose their RTP numbers in game. On a more positive note, a small number of the games at the casino have what is called a "provably fair" mechanism that uses cryptography to prove that the game is not cheating you.
Inside your account settings page you are able to set various limits on your activity at the casino. This includes deposit, wager, and gameplay time limits, as well as the ability to set temporary cooling off periods. The casino also has a self-exclusion policy in place for players that need to close their account for any reason.
Joo Casino is very similar to many of the other SoftSwiss casinos, and that is no bad thing. The game library is as strong as ever as are the backend portions of the site. There are some things that could be improved upon though, particularly the withdrawal limits which are lower than other sites offering almost the same product.
