Imperial Casino is an online casino established in 1997 with games supplied by Playtech. It is operated by Mangas Gaming Malta Limited and is registered under the jurisdiction of Gibraltar. Last Updated: October 20, 2020.
Licensed in Gibraltar and established in 1997, Imperial Casino is one of the oldest online casinos still in business today. However the casino has changed hands a couple of times and the original ownership is long gone, with the casino now part of the French owned Betclic Everest Group. Operating for many years on the Grand Virtual platform, the casino now offers a modern suite of casino games from Playtech.
Powered by Playtech software that is available for download to your Windows PC, or instant play in your web browser window, Imperial Casino offers a solid library of online slots, table games, video poker, and parlour games that can offer hours of entertainment for any punter. The slot machines are particularly good at Imperial Casino, and there are dozens available including licensed DC Comics slots like Green Lantern, Man of Steel, Batman and Joker Jewels, and Superman the Movie, alongside other licensed titles such as Monty Python's Spamalot and custom creations like Ghosts of Christmas and Dragon Kingdom.
There are a series of progressive slots available for players looking to hit it big. Each of these games is part of the Playtech network which means that the jackpots are pooled amongst many different casinos which helps them to increase rapidly. Some of the bigger jackpots include the above-mentioned Spamalot, Gladiator, and Beach Life. In addition to slot jackpots, there are also progressive table and video poker games on offer.
Speaking of table games, there are several great Vegas classics that you will find available for play at Imperial Casino such as Blackjack, Baccarat, Casino Hold'em, and Roulette. Playtech's table games are all very crisp, smooth, and offer a solid playing experience that is as good anything you will see at competing casinos. For those of you that prefer their table games played with real equipment, the casino offers live dealer Blackjack, Baccarat, Casino Hold'em and Roulette tables that are broadcast live from Playtech's studios in Riga, Latvia. Video poker and parlour games round out Imperial Casino's game offering, and while the numbers of games aren't as large as the slots and table games, there are still some solid choices here that will offer you fun betting experiences.
Imperial accepts major credit cards and e-wallets for both deposits and withdrawals. Deposits are credited to your account instantly while withdrawal timeframes vary depending on the method used. In my experience withdrawals to e-wallets will be held for a couple of days in a reversible state and then paid out in another day or two. While this is not terrible, it is a far cray from the old Grand Virtual days where this casino regularly paid out within hours of a withdrawal.
Support can be contacted via live chat or email, and it is provided in both English and Japanese. There is no phone support and I found that the live chat operators are not always available which means that you're sometimes going to have to correspond over email. Depending on your time zone this could be a small or major inconvenience.
All communication with the casino's servers is secured using industry standard SSL encryption. The casino is licensed and regulated in Gibraltar and one of the licensing conditions imposed on the casino is that player funds are segregated from operational funds. This is a good thing too because the casino's owner, Betclic Everest Group, has been through some awful time financially in recent years. The company racked up multi-million Euro losses over the 2010-2012 period, at one stage reporting a €60 million write-down in the value of its business on the books after the unexpected closure and regulation of the the group's core French market. While it has continued to operate without major issue since, we still feel that this is more than fair warning that the owners could be in financial stress and may have difficulty coping with another major unexpected financial shock. In terms of game fairness, while the Playtech software's random number generator is audited for statistical fairness, the casino does not report monthly payout audits, nor does it publish the RTP of any of its games.
Imperial Casino has a great collection of Playtech games, but it has little else to place itself ahead of the multitude of other Playtech casinos. The recent financial history of the parent company is not a good sign and we feel that there is a larger than normal risk of the casino being sold or going out of business. In short, there are a lot of other casinos with the same games that have none of these issues, so we really find it hard to recommend this casino as things stand today.
