Review of Gorilla Casino
I have seen all manner of casino names over the years ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous, but never imagined that I would see a place called Gorilla Casino. The site's mascot is a suit and sunglasses wearing Gorilla playboy that apparently rolls with the ladies while indulging in bouts of cigar smoking and gambling. Yes, it's much closer to the ridiculous than the sublime!
Software and game selection
Gorilla casino offers a small selection of slot machines from lesser known developers MultiSlot and Parlay Entertainment. I was surprised to see that Parlay was still around as I had not come across their games at a new casino for several years. Its safe to say that none of these games will be winning any design awards any time soon, and they are mostly generic games based on the same themes that you have seen everywhere else a hundred times before. All the games at the site are presented in a grid format, but with only eight visible at a time you need to do a lot of paging back and forth to browse, and there is no search function to find one even if you know its name.
There are a small number of table games, consisting of six Blackjack variations, Craps, and both European and American Roulette. I was about to criticise this lack of choice when I unexpectedly found Caribbean Poker, Pai Gow Poker, and Oasis Poker under the Video Poker section of the site, perhaps put there by someone who doesn't understand the difference between Video Poker and a table game with the word poker in the name. Speaking of Video Poker, you'll find Jacks or Better, Deuces Joker, Deuces Wild, Double Joker, Joker Poker, 10s or Better and a couple of Bonus Poker games. There are also a few games of Keno plus three or four parlour games.
Banking and support options
Deposits at Gorilla Casino may be made using a variety of credit cards and e-wallets and you can also withdraw via these methods, along with a bank transfer. As usual, most deposits are credited instantly whereas withdrawals are handled somewhat more slowly. When I first looked at Gorilla Casino the minimum withdrawal amount was €100 but I was pleasantly surprised to see that change to a much more reasonable €50 a few days later. However withdrawals are only processed at this casino once per week on Thursdays, which in this day and age and competitive casino environment is unacceptable.
Customer support is provided via a live chat widget that is available on the side of the website at all times, and the casino claims that it is available 24/7. That claim however did not meet my experience, and never once during my three separate attempts over the course of a week did I ever see anything more in the chat window than Please wait for a site operator to respond followed by a few more automated messages a few minutes later. So if you do want to contact someone at Gorilla, you are probably better off trying via email and hoping that arm of the Gorilla support crew isn't off eating bananas with supermodels.
Security, safety and game fairness
I did not find anything particularly unusual or terrible in the casino's terms and conditions. There is a statement that the T&Cs are governed by the laws of Panama. The casino's server IP address is located in Mohawk territory in Canada, but owned by a Panamanian ISP. The site's backend is powered by a white-label casino provider, Spring Networks. Gorilla Casino is licensed and regulated by the authorities in Curacao, who provide no assistance to players in the event of a dispute. There is no information about the RTP numbers for any of the games on the site, nor does it publish any independently audited payout reports.
There is not a lot more that needs to be said. The small selection of games at Gorilla Casino are ordinary which leaves me struggling to think of a single reason why you would want to play at this casino. Add to that a live chat support crew that doesn't answer, once a week withdrawal department, and weak licensing jurisdiction, and it is more than enough to put me off from coming back to this one.
