Review of Galaxy Pig Casino
The never ending stream of strange casino names has thrown another one our way in Galaxy Pig Casino, a web based casino run by Curacao licensed operator Brillantium GP. Adorned with a cute pig-in-spacesuit mascot, the mobile compatible site has a library of slots and table games, a bunch of live dealer games, and a novel progressive jackpot system called 1SpinMillionaire that I was interested in learning more about.
Software and game selection
Galaxy Pig Casino provides its games to players using an instant play platform that loads directly in your internet browser. The casino uses a large software suite with games provided by developers including Net Entertainment, Yggdrasil, Portomaso Gaming, Playson, and last and definitely least, Pragmatic Play (click that link to read more about the exploits of this questionable software supplier, formerly known as TopGame, that I regard as completely untrustworthy). Those of you who like to play on their smartphone or tablet can load the casino, as Galaxy Pig supports mobile betting with a site that adjusts to the smaller screen size, though not all games are playable on mobile devices.
Unlike many of the newer slots focused casinos online today, Galaxy Pig has a full casino game lineup, which includes slots, table games, video poker, and keno games. The casino's largest section of games is the slots, with hundreds of games that feature some big name titles like Motorhead, Superman, Jimi Hendrix, Aliens, and more. The games are sortable by alphabet or popularity, and there is a useful instant search box to aid you in finding the games you like. The live dealer section is well integrated, with players able to place a bet on webcasted blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. One thing you're likely to notice is the games tab labeled "1SpinMillionaire" which, as I was to find out, is an interesting mash-up of online casino games and conventional lotteries.
Spin & Win progressive jackpot
A number of games at the site contribute towards a jackpot that the casino calls "Spin & Win, powered by 1SpinMillionaire". The way it works is that simply playing on the specific games awards you tickets into a lottery draw. The more you play, the more tickets you earn, at a rate of one ticket for every €10 wagered on most qualifying games (some are one ticket per €20). A recent tweak to the promotion now also awards players a ticket for every €1 deposited.
How do you win? Each ticket has a set of 5 numbers ranging from 1 to 50, and two bonus numbers ranging from 1 to 12. 1SpinMillionaire draws every Tuesday and Friday and, if you are keen on lotteries, you are probably thinking that this sounds an awful lot like the EuroMillions draw. And you would be right because the Spin & Win jackpot is awarded if your numbers match the winning EuroMillions numbers for the draw, which are used to ensure randomness. Sadly you do not win the lifetime of riches offered by EuroMillions, just the current value of the Spin & Win jackpot, but on the flip side all entries you earn in this jackpot drawing are free. The jackpot now sits at €100,000 which obviously doesn't live up to the title "1SpinMillionaire", but it is well worth keeping an eye on this one in the future to see where it goes. It is nice to see a bit of innovation in the cookie cutter online casino space for once.
Banking and Customer Support
Galaxy Pig Casino has a number of deposit and withdrawal options for players, but there is a major issue here that stands out as my biggest gripe for the entire site. This is the following policy on withdrawals, and note that it even applies to progressive jackpot winnings:
The customer agrees that the maximum amount that the customer may withdraw is ten thousand EURO (€ 10.000) (or the equivalent amount in any other currency) every 30 business days. All amounts larger than ten thousand EURO (€ 10,000) will be paid every 30 business days until the full withdrawal amount is reached. This condition also applies to winnings of progressive jackpots.
Note that the Spin & Win 1SpinMillionaire jackpot is paid separately from this policy and is subject to payment increments of €7000 per week, which is better but still not great. Anyway imagine if you were to win a progressive jackpot at this casino for, say, €1.5 million. The casino's payout policies would leave you waiting for 12 and a half years before you were paid the full amount. As I have said many times before, this is really bad policy for any casino, let alone one that offers large progressive jackpots like Galaxy Pig does.
Customer support is available via live chat and email, with chat hours running from 10am-10pm and email help available 24 hours a day. The rep I spoke with was fast to respond and I felt they were competent.
Security, Fairness, and Responsible Gaming
Galaxy Pig Casino uses SSL encryption technology to encrypt and protect your data and personal information at all times. This is a mandatory feature that all reputable casinos should be using these days and I was pleased to see this casino treating security properly.
The casino's operator, Brillantium GP N.V., holds an AntillePhone license to operate an online casino from the jurisdiction of Curacao. This tells us little as the jurisdiction isn't exactly a beacon of integrity when it comes to holding casino operators accountable when player disputes arise. I wasn't able to find any actual or theoretical RTP numbers for the games at the site, aside from the minority that are displayed in-game by their developers (e.g. Net Entertainment), nor does the casino provide any information about the auditing of its games or the random number generators they use.
Responsible gaming is handled well at this casino. The website gives players tips for identifying and fighting problem betting behaviours and provides links to outside counselling groups like GamCare. More importantly the user account controls allow you to set deposit limits by yourself and request either temporary or permanent self-exclusion from the casino if you feel it is warranted.
Conclusion
There are some good things going on at Galaxy Pig Casino, as the gaming library and mobile compatibility are very good. Unfortunately, the array of progressive jackpots and the Spin & Win idea is torpedoed by the withdrawal limit policy, which could keep you waiting a very long time should you hit a large cash prize here.
Comments
Galaxy Pig is a casino that I know for quite some time now. I found this casino when I was looking for something free and they were recently promoted on many websites. I didn't get anything free but I made a deposit so I would get their welcome bonus. Right off the start I had many difficulties- I misread their terms and didn't understand at first that the welcome bonus is released only after you have met the wagering for deposit. Also none of Netent games worked as they had some technical difficulties. The support were great I have to say, for all the troubles they gave me wager free respins so I definitely appreciate that. Not a fan for their casino but they seem to be decent.
