After all the casinos I've seen over the years, I don't know if I can recall one that is themed after auto racing. Drift Casino brings us a betting site that runs with this "risky" theme. Featuring hundreds of games from some big-name developers, Drift Casino looks like a solid betting site. Unfortunately, it has a few serious drawbacks related to its banking that make it veer off the track, so to speak.

Software and game selection

The casino offers games developed by the likes of Microgaming, Net Entertainment, Playson, 1x2 Gaming, Quickspin, and more. It runs on a web-based platform, which means that you register, login, deposit, and play all through your internet browser instead of downloading and installing some software on your PC. The site looks quite attractive and is really easy to navigate. 
Playing on a mobile device is equally impressive, as the casino has a mobile-dedicated site. I had no issues finding specific games I wanted to play, which is all I really ask when browsing on my phone.

The game selection is very impressive, as there are hundreds of video and classic slots in the Drift library. Games run the gamut from popular licensed titles all the way down to unique properties developed from the labs of indie publishers that have since been pushed to larger platforms. Progressive jackpots are also included, and there's big-name prizes like the Mega Moolah, Treasure Nile, and Major Millions prizes from Microgaming present.

Table games are also on tap, but the selection is much more limited than the slots. You can find basic games like blackjack, roulette, craps, and baccarat, as well as a few table poker games as well. A few variants are sprinkled in to boost the game total, but I wish the table games were as fleshed out as the slots at this site. Unfortunately there are no live dealer games for those of you that prefer their action dealt with physical cards.

However the withdrawal policies take some of the shine off, with the casino implementing a tiered withdrawal limitation system that starts as low as €1000 daily, €4000 weekly, and €8000 monthly. These do increase to €4000 / €25000 / €50000 at the top status tier, but to attain that privilege you will need to deposit more than €45000 at the casino in a 90 day period.

Customer support is available through live chat, email, or telephone to a Norwegian number. I paged the support crew through chat, and found them to be more or less what you'd expect from a standard casino, i.e. polite and friendly, and eager to convince me to deposit some money. To give them their dues, they were able to clarify a few questions I had about the bonus rules on the site without a fuss.

Security, fairness, and responsible gaming

Drift Casino does protect your data in a responsible way, as it uses industry standard SSL encryption that's present at all reliable sites. This is a good thing, as it encrypts data in order to keep it out of the hands of thieves as it travels across the internet. Drift does not publish any theoretical return to player (RTP) information about its games anywhere on its site. Nor does it provide any independent audits of the actual payout rates for its games. While it's great that the site works with licensed and accredited developers, the small blurb of information on the casino's fairness page isn't impressive at all. Moving forward I'd like to see this expanded on so that I could see some hard data. In addition this casino is one of many that still offers games from Betsoft, even though it is common knowledge that their progressive jackpot games have been proven to not play fair by our detailed report into the matter last year.

While there is the usual page about responsible gaming on the website that identifies problem betting behaviours, there isn't really any other way that Drift Casino is addressing this matter. There are no account controls that would allow you to limit your deposits, wagers, or time spent on the site, and if you want to self exclude from the site you will need to contact customer support.

Conclusion


I really like some aspects of Drift Casino, but can't get over the many shortfalls it has. It is an attractive site with loads of great games but it is really lacking in the polish that separates the average casinos from the great ones. Low withdrawal limits, a worthless licensing jurisdiction, lack of transparency in terms of game RTPs, and the absence of responsible gaming controls all conspire to leave this casino well back in the middle of the pack.
