Review of Casino Room
Style. That is the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw the Casino Room website load into my browser. The casino has dedicated resources to making its site have a certain flair while also offering games from some of the world’s top developers. It promises 'Missions. Friends. Rewards.' So I made it my mission to find out whether the the site would hold its own as an online casino that will keep players coming back. Will Casino Room be rewarding enough for us to become steadfast friends?
Software and games selection
Casino Room adopts a social gaming concept with rewards and achievements that we have seen at a small number of online casinos recently. Every interaction at the casino earns you experience points (XP) that help you move through levels which, at this casino, are 'planets'. Despite the site's name evoking connotations of a small, cosy place to play, Casino Room in fact presents itself as an intergalactic space adventure with 'missions' or challenges that can help you earn achievements and progress. The rewards for progressing are bonuses such as free spins. I was pleased to see that in contrast to other similarly styled casinos such as Casino Heroes, you do not have to unlock your favourite games by playing others that you don't like, so even though you're on this faux intergalactic quest, you can still play any game you want.
It runs off a web based platform, meaning that you don't have to download anything to your desktop in order to play. The site makes registering an account a breeze, and I was also able to deposit money using my credit card. I would say gearing up to play at Casino Room took a grand total of five minutes, with the process of signing up painless. If you are a smartphone or tablet gamer, Casino Room also has a mobile site where you can access slots and table games, though not quite the full range of games that you can see on your computer.
The software library at Casino Room is very impressive, with the casino boasting more than 800 games from developers like Net Entertainment, Microgaming, Yggdrasil, NextGen, Aristocrat, Evolution, BetSoft, ELK, and Thunderkick, of which slot machines make up the bulk. The casino includes all the major progressive jackpots from these game developers. This means you have a chance at winning Microgaming's Dark Knight and Mega Moolah jackpots, Net Entertainment's Mega Fortune and Cosmic Fortune prizes as well as prizes from BetSoft and other developers. This is an excellent addition to Casino Room, I wish we saw more operators taking this path, rather than simply licensing out the basic slots from developers and neglecting the games with big prizes.
Table games, video poker, and parlour games are also available for play at Casino Room, along with many variations on typical Vegas games that add a bit of extra depth to an already strong gaming library. If you are the type of player who enjoys seeing a real live dealer, Casino Room also offers a live casino that gives you the chance to play blackjack and roulette via dealers that are broadcast from a studio.
Banking and customer support
The banking system at Casino Room is very well thought out, with the site allowing for withdrawals through credit card, e-Wallet, vouchers, and bank wires. After submitting identity documents players can be paid to e-wallets within 48 hours. While this isn't the fastest in the business it's still very good. One drawback though is the €5000 a week withdrawal limit that is in place, which may turn off those of you with larger bankrolls.
Customer support is also excellent, with staff standing by to assist you via chat, email, telephone 24 hours a day. Skype is also available but this didn't appear to be available 24/7, at least it was offline during some of the time I was at the casino.
Security, fairness, and responsible gaming
On the fairness front, Casino Room owners Ellmount Gaming Limited is licensed in the United Kingdom, Malta and Curacao. While it is does not personally carry eCOGRA certification, two of the software companies utilized by the site do carry that certification, which taken together gives you comfort that the games offered on the site are fair for punters.
Responsible gaming is directly addressed at Casino Room, with the operator giving advice about how to identify problem gaming behaviours and providing contact links to groups such as Gamblers Anonymous and GamCare. Casino Room allows you to set a cooling off period if you feel like you have been betting too much, and it also lets you self-exclude yourself permanently.
At first glance, many online casinos look spectacular but end up failing in one way or another. Casino Room seems to buck this trend though, offering a huge gaming library, while also providing excellent support and banking systems. I'm not a big fan of social gaming and achievements but this casino balances things nicely, allowing old grumps like me the opportunity to ignore it all and just play whatever I like. A casino that offers style and substance? Yes. I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
