Review of CasinoJefe
Last year I took a look at Lucky Dino Casino, a funny sounding online betting site that had a slew of games, very fast payouts, and an excellent mobile layout, all of which helped combine to make the spot one of the best new casinos last year. Recently, Lucky Dino's owners unveiled their newest casino site, CasinoJefe, a fun themed site featuring a cat in a luchador mask (truly) as its mascot. How does it perform?
Software and game selection
Casino Jefe has a web-based platform, with games supplied by Net Entertainment and Microgaming Quickfire. The site has an intuitive and fun looking theme, which features the aforementioned feline wrestler on the prowl throughout Mexico. Curiously, I think it may be the first web-based casino that I have ever come across that will not allow you to browse the list of games that it offers before you sign up. So it is fortunate that the site sports an easy to navigate layout, which make it easy to register an account and find the game you want to play. I found myself able to register an account, make a first deposit, and start playing in under five minutes, which is about average for an online casino.
The games on offer total roughly 240 or so high quality video slots, classic slot machines, table games, and video poker machines. The games feature excellent presentation, and includes gems such as Guns n Roses, Frankenstein, Scarface, Reel Rush, Immortal Romance, Thunderstruck II, Hot Ink, and Hellboy among many others in the game library. There is nothing here though that you won't have seen at the countless other in-browser casinos that have sprung up over the past few years.
What does set this casino apart from others though is that as you play at Casino Jefe you have the opportunity to advance in rank and level up to earn free spins and other prizes. This sort of "gamification" is a disguise about as thin as a luchador's mask, and it is obviously designed to dangle a carrot in front of you to keep you returning to the casino. However in this case it has a great chance of paying out in your favour, as best of all, at Jefe you don't have to meet any wagering requirements for the many free spins rewards that are paid as prizes. You simply select the game that the free spins are paid on, hit spin and collect whatever you win, and you can then withdraw then and there if you like.
One thing that I didn't like in the games section is the fact that there are none of the large progressive jackpots on offer from Net Entertainment or Microgaming, save for the in-house Casino Jefe jackpot wheel. This is a real shame, as both companies offer some of the best known and most popular progressive jackpots in the world today with the likes of Mega Fortune, Hall of Gods, and Mega Moolah.
Banking and customer support
The banking options at this casino are adequate, with players being able to deposit via a variety of credit card, banking, and common eWallet solutions. Transactions for most deposits are handled instantly. I am pleased to report that payouts are also handled very quickly, and I received a my first test payout to a Neteller accounts in under a day. One thing to watch out for thought are the withdrawal fees, especially if you like to regularly deposit and withdraw. The first withdrawal each month is free but after that you will have to pay 3% up to a maximum of €25 for each withdrawal. The other drawback that I can see in this department is the casino reserving the right to pay withdrawals of more than €20,000 over 10 monthly instalments.
Customer service is available through email and live chat. Regular players who have achieved level 4 or higher in the casino will find that there is a 15 minute guarantee for service between the hours of 10am and midnight CET (support does not operate outside those hours). If you don't receive a response to your support enquiry within that timeframe the casino will deposit €10 cash into your account. Now that is the kind of accountability that I like to see. I found the reps on hand to be helpful and friendly, and they were able to steer me in the right direction so that my identity verification documents were accepted without issue.
Security, Fairness, and Responsible Gaming
I was happy to see that Casino Jefe offers SSL encryption technology at all times to their players, which means that your personal and financial info is secure when being transmitted to and from the site. Believe it or not, there are still some casinos that don't protect their customers with basic security like this, so thumbs up to the management of this casino for taking security seriously.
There is no third party accreditation or published payout percentage reports that show the actual payouts of Casino Jefe's games. However many of the games publish their theoretical RTP values in the help file that is accessible by clicking the question mark icon in the bottom left corner of every game. The casino holds an EU license to operate from the Malta Gaming Authority, but it it not currently licensed to accept players from the United Kingdom.
Responsible gaming is directly addressed through a dedicated page which gives tips on preventing addiction, giving links to counseling agencies, and also giving players the ability to set limits on their time, wagering, or deposit amounts, or even self-exclude from the site should they feel the need to.
Casino Jefe is well run and fun casino to play at. Most importantly, there is a great selection of games and the payouts are handled quickly and efficiently. There are a few small issues that prevent it from being ranked among the highest echelon though, including the limited live support hours and the large withdrawal limitations. If you're not a high rolling VIP these things will not matter much though, so for most of us this is a casino that I can heartily recommend.
