Review of BoVegas Casino

Bovegas. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It is clear that this casino's operator, Skyline Media N.V., wishes that it was part of the generally well regarded and successful Bovada group of casinos. However despite the name, it is nothing more than a disingenuous attempt to trick people who are only vaguely aware of the real operator. I recently checked out this casino and I am sorry to report that it can only be described as a casino clip joint.

Warning: rogue casino, possible criminal associations

Back in 2015 the online casino community breathed a sigh of relief when a group of Israeli and Russian cybercriminals operating under the name of Affactive and Revenue Jet were arrested and the online casino arm of their business was terminated, along with their hacking, identity theft, denial of service attacks, and penny stock pump and dump scams. At the time it was claimed that they employed around 270 casino staff, and we know for a fact that some of them ended up working at the group of casinos that Bovegas is part of, under the umbrella of an organisation known as AffAlliance.

It should come as no surprise then, to learn that this casino is run in pretty much the same way that those scam casinos of yesteryear were operated. First time withdrawals are routinely delayed for weeks while their support staff pretend that they never received your ID documents, or that there is a problem with the documents, or the size of the documents is not right. If you manage to get past that process a war of attrition begins where this casino will attempt to pay you as little as possible, as slowly as possible, until you give up requesting more, or reverse your withdrawal in a rage and lose it all. I'm talking about $150 a month, or slower, even if you're only withdrawing a couple hundred bucks - not forgetting the $50 withdrawal fee per instalment. They will say that this is because your "player class" is at the lowest level. However they will never disclose what the classes are, and it seems an amazing coincidence that everyone who wins and tries to withdraw seems to always be on the lowest level. This process is quite calculated and definitely deliberate.

Another scam that was formerly pioneered by the Affactive cybercriminals that this group has been known to employ is the "30 day no play rule". This rule is used to deny a withdrawal because the player has not deposited or played with real money for the preceding 30 days. Would it surprise you to learn that the reason is most often because the casino has stalled on their withdrawal request for longer than 30 days? When called out on this on an affiliate discussion forum, a representative of the casino quite unbelievably stated that this was ok because it was stated in the T&Cs, and all players are responsible for reading and understanding the T&Cs. That tells you all you need to know about the motivations of the crooks behind this casino.

Curacao license suspension

An interesting development that came across our desk in 2019 was the announcement by Curacao eGaming that it had suspended this casino's license to operate. That is almost unheard of for an unregulated Curacao "licensed" casino. Our enquiries have yielded no explanation for this development. I can only speculate that it is unlikely to be related to the casino's poor treatment of players, and more likely to be due to the operator being unwilling or unable to pay the licensing fees.

Conclusion

I could do our usual rundown of the games on offer, the banking and support, and the responsible gambling controls available to you as a player (er... none actually). But what would be the point? Bovegas is one of the worst new casinos that I have come across in recent times. It may or may not be ultimately controlled by ex-Affactive employees, but to my mind it doesn't matter. This casino is being run the same way. It is an organised criminal enterprise designed to fleece players by making it extremely difficult for them to withdraw their money. You are well advised to avoid Bovegas like the plague.

Curacao suspending your gaming license is like a pedophile telling you that you're too creepy to hang out with.
