Amaya Hopes for New Jersey PokerStars Launch This Year

Online betting firm Amaya Gaming announced this week that it is planning to have an operational New Jersey betting site for its PokerStars product later this year.

The announcement was made by Amaya CEO David Baazov during the company's latest earnings conference call, and said that he expects to have a PokerStars site up and running in the Garden State later this year. The company has had a long-standing deal in place with the Resorts Atlantic City casino to be the property's online presence, but has been fighting to gain a New Jersey gaming license. The gaming license has been difficult to obtain, due to PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker operating in the United States after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was signed into law.

Baazov also revealed that the company has been lobbying for online gaming regulation in both California and Pennsylvania.
