Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Commission has announced that it has located 172 online betting sites that it intends to shut down in its attempt to curb rampant illegal gambling in its country.

The sites span multiple types of betting, and will be shut down as many of the country's ministries will reportedly team up to get then closed down. The announcement comes less than a week after the country's Attorney General announced that he would be submitting additional recommendations on how to close down illegal gambling operations.

Among the measures being enacted in Malaysia include a PR campaign in which the government and police will attempt to convey how gambling is illegal and unacceptable to Malaysian citizens.
