Ideas wanted: monthly competitions for all members

I think that is an awesome idea to have a competition. I like the idea of a once a month competition where members who post the most are rewarded!! Maybe a cash prize would be best considering that maybe not all members would be eligible at certain casinos.

In having a monthly drawing it will give members an opportunity to stick around and see just how valuable this site really is. Particularly your expertise in gambling advice.

Makes me kind of sad to see members come and go and stay long enough for the iPod and then they are gone! I think part of the charm of any forum is the friendships that are built through regular members who post often.

Only one thing i would stress in "most posts in a month" is that posting is not abused with simple one word posts. In that event maybe that should be considered void when tallying posts!

Whatever your decision is i am sure it will be the right one! I will put on my thinking cap for any other ideas you may want to toss around and post it if i come up with something.

I am wondering what you might think of random contests thrown in here and there too. Fun contests that would require members posts such as coming up with some fun forum game ideas. If you do please let me know because that is an area that i love to do!!!

One idea i was thinking about that might be fun for members is "What Slot am I"? Post clues of a particular slot game. As it progresses give more and more clues until a member guesses what slot it is and they are declared the winner!

hey Usne that is a great idea about guessing the slot! what about putting a tiny part of a scrennshot of the slot on the page as a clue? (like maybe one reel symbol)

Ed i was super disappointed to not win the ipod so i would love a conetst that i could enter every month! but if you do have a post of the month award you will win it every time!!

I love the "What slot am I?" idea! I think that should really keep the members active. I'd just suggest using the screenshot only later in the contest, if you see the people get stuck guessing what it is.

As for the top poster competition, Usne made a good point about the posting "abuse". But I guess everything can be sorted out with a couple of simple rules specified at the competition opening .

I just didn't get one thing - would you rather start the top poster, best post, and most helpful member as separate contests, or turn them into categories of a single contest? Because in the latter case, you could accumulate the prizes into one big contest which will draw more attention and make people think they stand better chance if there is more than one category to win in.

Just wanted to revive this topic, as I see there are some new and active members in the forum (who could share an opinion of their own), and this thread contains some great ideas that have kinda fallen into oblivion since we last gave it our attention.

Btw - Ed, is there any update on the new contest? We'd love to hear more!

Thanks Ed! You are the man, and I sincerely hope you did not go blind looking at that picture. My wife walked in the house later that night and saw the writing and asked why in the hell I had that on me (I hadn't taken a shower yet to wash it off). I explained my reasoning, but now she feels that I am a gambling addict for sure!

All that being said, are you still looking for ideas for the t-shirts? You should have a thread for a "one-liners" contest and let members post ideas and then pick a winner. Just a thought, if you haven't found something already. I would also love to have a CL cap, t-shirt or even sweatshirt. Love the idea!

I have enjoyed reading this thread.

What about referral credits? One of my favorite sites (trading site) rewards members with credits for each person they refer to the site. I referred over 25 people and got credits which I then used to bid on items. The people I referred then got credits for the people they referred. The site has grown tremendously.

This would give CL more exposure, give the casinos more business and be fun for us and the people we refer too. Just an idea...
