O.M.G. The Mid-Season Finale of THE WALKING DEAD!

25 replies • Last post

I know we already have a Walking Dead thread in this forum, but honestly? I believe the mid-season finale deserves it's own post.

I cannot believe how many completely horrifying things happened on tonight's episode. After a few slow episodes, they sure know how to quickly STEP IT UP. Tonight was nothing but action, and a moment where I actually felt a little sick.

I am just going to say that after this post, if you have NOT seen the mid season finale, do not read any further, so everyone who has can discuss freely. I am too tired now, but I will have more to say tomorrow.

SO SPOIL ALERT! FREE DISCUSSION OF THE MID-SEASON FINALE OF THE WALKING DEAD GOING ON HERE!!!!

IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE MID-SEASON FINALE BACK OUT OF THIS THREAD, WATCH, AND COME BACK LATER!! πŸ™‚

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!

The Walking Dead does a much better job with their mid-season finales than the actual season finales. This whole episode was a heart racer for me, and made up some of the most compelling television I have ever seen.

Great episode. I can't wait til February.

So I haven't watched it, in fact I haven't started this season yet. I still couldn't resist reading this and now I am thoroughly disappointed that there are in fact no actual spoilers here, despite the advertising!

Awesome mid-season finale. Chaos all over.
I didn't expect that another main character, after Carol, had to leave the series. However, Hershel had his best performing episode few ones ago and like hope777 posted earlier β€œthe episode focused so much on Hershel. I am so hoping this does not mean last episode was his "last hurrah." Makes me nervous.” Unfortunately you were totally right with your fear. RIP Hershell.
I am very happy that they had to abandon the prison because the location became boring after all. Cannot wait for Feburary.

Sorry Ed, I was unsure whether or not I was going to post spoilers as I typed, so I had to get the disclaimer in beforehand.

If you want them: Hershel gets his head lopped off by the Governor, the baby (probably) dies, the jail is destroyed, and the group is separated and on the run.

Now that is more like it!

By the time I get around to watching it I'll probably have forgotten. Hopefully...

I hate spoilers! I would plug my ears and close my eyes. lol That is why I like Hitfix's Alan Sepinwall's reviews. He has strict rules for the comments: NO spoilers and no talking about the comics, even.

I am surprised to read so much whining and griping about this episode.

Scott Gimble (SP?) showrunner said Hershel's death is going to come in to play in later days by having a huge impact on Rick. I am still pissed at Rick for being such a pussy and not beating "Brian" to a pulp in defense of Hershel. I would have thought that would be enough to get that adrenaline going, but it was not to be. They had to save that one for Michonne, and later, Brian's girlfriend.

Yeah, I kind of thought that episode was a foreshadowing of what was to come and a nice send off for Hershel, but I am still pissed he is gone, and what a horrible way to go.

One criticism I DO agree with is why would the Governor choose to kill Hershel when he had his worst enemy, Michonne, kneeling right next to him. Makes ZERO sense.

The second half of the season will be more exciting, I think, with the group all split up and several story lines going on at once.

I can't wait to see Carol again.

I loved when the kids that Carol trained saved Tyrese's ass. lol I thought they were going to kill of Tyrese, and I said out loud to my computer screen that if they kill Tyrese tonight, too, I AM done watching this show!

Now the big debate is if Lil Ass Kicker is living or dead? She was not included in the memorium on "The Talking Dead," and Hershel and the Governor were included. Yet in an interview, Gimble (I think I am spelling or even naming that wrong, but oh well, lol)/showrunner said, "the car seat tells a story."

What do you all think? Is Judith/Lil Ass Kicker dead or did one of the kids swoop her out of the car seat or did Beth go get her? In a way, it WOULD be kind of cool to see a zombie baby, don't ya think? lol~

Okay, that is all for now, folks~! πŸ™‚

Hey, you know who my favorite old football player was?

HERSHEL WALKER!

(I know I spelled his name wrong, and I don't really know who he is.... but still!)

Oh good grief. lol The person who wanted to be named "Hershell's bloody stump" would have to post that picture. They had to add insult to injury by showing us that one more time, didn't they?

And an episode that focuses completely on CARL was extremely underwhelming for a series return. I liked the Michonne story line, learning more about her, but CARL? Plus the actor is not good enough to carry the weight of almost an entire episode.

I sure hope next week is better.

What did everyone else think?

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T MADE IT TO THE MID-SEASON FINALE. OTHERWISE, I DON'T THINK THERE ARE ANY REAL SPOILERS ABOUT THE EPISODES BETWEEN THE MID-SEASON UNTIL THE MOST RECENT EPISODE.

Not much discussion going on about TWD from mid-season finale until now. I am interested in if you are enjoying these episodes? I thought the episode before last was CLASSIC walking dead (with Carol and Tyrese, etc) but the others I believe could have been streamlined a bit, not concentrating so much in depth on two to three characters per episode. Personally, I would prefer they jump around a bit, giving us a little time with each group now that they are separated, but it's not my show. lol

What do you think of funny, mulleted Eugene and his blind followers who are going to go to D.C. to "save the world?"

What about Daryl's new group and where is Beth and is Terminus too good to be true? I think it is. I have VERY BAD vibes about Terminus (those who arrive survive!). Remember, I have not read the graphic novels (well, only a few of them), so NO SPOILERS please.

What do you think about spending so little time with the person who is supposed to be the main character of this show: Rick? I remember the show runner saying we will see how Hershell's death has deeply impacted Rick but how can we see that with NO RICK? lol

Finally, any bets on who WILL NOT survive to see another seasons? I fear for Michonne for some reason. Now that we have gotten to know her, and her character is more developed, I am sure that is when TWD says it is time to go. I am rooting for Carol, Daryl, and Tyrese, three of the BEST ACTORS (IMHO) left on the show.

I loved last night' episode. I loved the brutality that Rick showed at the beginning, and thinking that the cliffhanger will lead to a LONG wait til October.

Those Terminus folk are definitely cannibals. Can't wait to see how they work their way out of this one.

Someone in Alan Sepinwall's (my favorite reviewer) blog said that maybe there is a "breeding room" and that is where Beth is kept, because of her prime age bracket.

One thing that drives me INSANE about TWD is the lack of communication between characters. I loved when Rick called Daryl his brother, but what followed when he asked where Beth was drove me NUTS, lol! Where is Beth? Oh, she's gone. Okay. The end.

Would it be that difficult to say, well we were together then someone snatched her away in a car? ONE LINE would be all it took to keep me from pulling my hair out. lol

I am resurrecting the thread here, as this season of the Walking Dead has been incredible. I haven't seen one bad episode yet, and I honestly feel that this is the strongest season yet for this show.

Thoughts?

I have not watched any of it at all. I suppose thats good because I can binge watch it. The problem is Mrs CL-Ed is not a fan of the show at all so I have to find time to watch it by myself and that is hard!

'Slim, I am not sure if it is the best season yet, but I am definitely enjoying these first episodes!
CL-Ed, you can watch on the computer with head phones while Mrs. CL-Ed watches something on the TV. lol πŸ™‚

I am enjoying some new shows, too. Some are already finished, but check out Rectify (Netflix and amazingly unique!), The Strain (vampires!), The Leftovers (after a book and very different) and I really loved The Knick (and love Clive Owen!) about a hospital in the early 1900s with a really cool electronica soundtrack). The first show has two completed seasons now (and the first is on Netflix) and the last ones have one completed season. I also discovered Ray Donovan which is pretty cool, Sopranos - like TV (but can't compare, if you KWIM) with Liev Shrieber (sp?).

As you can guess from above, I still watch entirely too much TV. haha!

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Slim I like that the team is back together. But then I was a little upset that they split up again! And so very soon. I like seeing the few characters from my ATF, The Wire.

What did you think of the last episode with Beth? It is getting mixed reviews (too many Beth hates out there) but I really liked it and how she is coming into her own. I like to see how the characters grow and become tougher through circumstances.

Thanks for reviving this thread! πŸ™‚

I loved the episode, as it was great to see what was happening in the ATL.

I have to admit that I missed the episode that aired last night, and will have to try to catch it tonight when the Mrs. hits the hay (she doesn't like TWD either!).

Wow, old thread!

TWD will be back tomorrow night.

I will be watching the Academy Awards, so I probably won't get around to watching TWD until Monday.

Anyone still watching? What do you think of the new season so far? Was a very SAD last episode. 😒

WALKING DEAD SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I strongly disagree. I LOVED Tyrese, but I think it is more because I loved Coleman as Cutty on The Wire. GREAT actor. They are killing off so much TALENT! 😒 How did you feel about Beth, Slim? Most senseless death ever, adn what did she think she was going to do to Dawn with that tiny scissors? I still can't get over that one.

And, yes, Hope was very mixed up. I thought it was the Oscars on the night of the Grammys, and I realized shortly after I posted here, but just now finding time to get back here. My brain has not been functioning well lately at all lol. I will blame it on stress. lol

I was all for Tyrese dying. He was very weak and just pitiful, especially when compared to the comics. Beth was the same in a lot of ways. What real purpose did either serve in the show? I think we are moving toward a very brutal end of the season, and I frankly welcome it as the two most recent kill-offs were horribly weak and added nothing to the show. The fact that both of the weakest characters are gone is a good sign.

I am getting kind of over the move to one site, then another, then another aspect of the show. I want to start seeing something a bit different. I actually watched the pilot of Gotham last night and can see that becoming my go-to TV show if Walking Dead begins slipping a bit.
