OMG, I am an IDIOT!

25 replies • Last post

I totally embarrassed to share this with everyone, and I should probably not even admit I did this, but this is a warning to ALL, and I just have vent and share somewhere where people will understand.

I honestly cannot believe I did this.

Early in the week, I deposited at Win A Day, and I was playing a long time on my money, doing fairly decent, then getting scary close to losing that money, like getting down to like 30-some dollars, than hitting again and getting up to one hundred or close to one-hundred. In other words, it has just been FUN to play a while on my money and not go through 25 to 30 dollars in thirty to forty minutes, but let it last over days and be there when I wanted to take a little break.

I was up around 55 dollars or so, and I decided to try a new slot called Fruitful Sevens. Then my friend calls. So, I am talking and spinning now and then while I talk. Hitting here and there. But then a message pops up saying I don't have enough money to play!!! 😢 WHAT? How can THAT be, because I am only betting 60 cents per spin.

I look up and I have $4.30 in my balance!!!

And that is when it hit me. I was hitting "MAX BET" instead of the SPIN button, and of course they are right next to each other! OMG, it is one of those things I just desperately want to TAKE BACK, but i could not.

I have done this before, but mainly at the land casino, and I typically catch it after ONE to THREE spins!

And, friends, I was betting freaking $10.50 PER SPIN! 😠 😈 :\ :'( :'( :'( 😢

And, of course I could not be one of those really LUCKY ones who happens to HIT BIG while betting that INSANE amount per line. NOOOOOOOOOO! Not at all.

Besides all the color being drained from my face, you should have seen the look of total shock, when I realized what I did.

No matter what, and even though it is not the game's fault, I will never play that game again. lol

So, this is your warning, friends: DO NOT be an idiotic like me, and when you are gambling: PAY ATTENTION!!! 😠

I HATE IT when that happens! I think anyone who has played slots for a long time has done that at some time or another.

I really think that the max bet button should just change the bet size but not spin at the same time. So to make that mistake you would have to hit both max bet and then spin. Some machines do operate that way, but most don't.

Try contacting the casino and tell them what happened and they might give you a refund. If they look at your play history and see that you always bet a much lower amount then it should support your story. If they do they will probably only do it once though.

I didn't even think about contacting them, CL-Ed. Thanks for not being too hard on me, as I am beating myself up as it is. I was on such a nice "roll" with that deposit. 😢 I wish they would offer some protection, too, but I have always said that, at least in the case of the land casinos I think they place those two buttons next to each other on purpose.

I will try to chat and see if they can do anything about it...or not. But I guess it certainly does not hurt to ask.

Well, I got Simon this time. I was hoping to get Thomas, because he actually knows who I am now, lol. But Simon checked it out and saw that I was betting $10.50 per spin (!!!!). He also said he "knows I will be aware of the max spin button now." Ummm...ya think?

He was nice enough to credit my account with $30.00. So, thank you SO MUCH, CL-Ed, for suggesting that, because I honestly would to have thought of reporting it, thinking they would just say it was my fault for the stupid mistake. lol I can live with that. It was nice of them to compensate me for my own stupidity. haha 😉 🙂

I'm sure many people have done that before. I know I have. I was playing some slot, but I didn't know it was a minimum of 50 or 60 tokens at once. I was playing either 2c, 5c, or ten cents. It was like $8.80 per spin! I caught it on the second or third spin. It worked in my favor though, because I won. I don't remember how much, but I took the money and ran.

This is why I like to play the games for fun first. I think I even wrote a thread on here about how I screwed up.

That was nice of them to give you some of your money back! Glad CL-Ed suggested it!

WinADay is quickly becoming a Knight in Shining Armor around here, aren't they?

Their customer service appears to be doing a bang up job. Good work WinADay! 🍺

Well, they are definitely my new favorite casino.

And, LuckyMe, they did not give me all my money back, but I appreciated the fact they did anything at all because you know that will not happen at the land casino. lmao! I have to laugh thinking of THAT conversation, "I was up in high stakes room, and I didn't realize it was called the high stakes room, and I was betting 10 dollars per spin, and I thought it was only ten cents, can I please have my money back?' Or something like that, anyway, lol.

I was nervous when I got Simon instead of Thomas, because like I said, Thomas knows me by now, lol. But he helped me just the same, and I am forever grateful.

As far as playing for fun first, I just plain should know better. I just was not paying attention. Plus it was a "new to me" game, so I should, if on the phone or otherwise distracted, at least play a familiar to me game.

Yes, I remember that thread. And you WERE lucky to win when betting max. I always share with friends that the few times I hit max accidentally I did NOT win. One time I thought I was on a dollar machine and it was 5 dollars and it took only one spin for me to realize that, and that time I did get the equal amount of the bet back, anyway, but that was years ago.

I also shared a story in that same thread about how I hit max on another woman's machine! I bent over to show her something, as we were having a conversation and I hit max bet on her machine! And she did not get her bet back and she would not, no matter how hard I tried, and I tried hard, take money from me. It was only like two something, but still. I wanted to pay her and she just laughed. I don't think I would be equally kind if the situation were reversed, I am ashamed to say. lol

Silly is right, lol. And yes, many have done this before, but I have NEVER done it before at the online casino: only at the land casino. They need to have a huge sign pop up that says, "Are you sure you want to change your bet?," or "are you sure you want to BET MAX?" or something like that. Just for me. 😉 lol

Great to hear that Winaday took care of you, at least partially. Just don't expect them to do it again if it happens again!

I was actually playing some video poker the other day at Paf Casino, checking out a new game they have called Friendly Joker Poker where you can pick an avatar and their clothes colours etc, then you can rack up get achievements as you play. Anyway I was just hitting the buttons and noticed that if you raise the bet size up to the two highest amounts, they actually pop up a message saying something like "hey €50 is a very big bet size, are you sure you really want to bet that much?" That's the first time I've seen something like that. Most other casinos are gagging for people to play at those bet sizes.

That is an awesome feature, CL-Ed. I was kidding when I wrote that, above, so nice to see they actually CARE and want people to be cautious.

And, no. I would never expect Win A Day to help me out again, and I am grateful they helped me out at all. Plus I don't plan on EVER making that mistake again. lol (And I am NOT playing Fruitful Sevens, either, just cuz of the bad experience).

Win A Day has outdone themselves again, CL-Ed and friends! I cannot believe the GOOD things that happen to me there (Now I just have to keep working on making my first withdrawal!)

Buried on this forum, I had similar incident. I lost $50 or maybe $60 in one single max spin that I did not know beforehand. It was a free play money so I did not bother. It would be nice if all online casinos would set an alert on pop up, as to what CL Ed shared. Something like: "can you really afford to lose this bet?" type of message or "do you wish to proceed"?

I like the idea of a warning type of sign when you are about to bet a large amount of money. I played a game at Sloto' Cash last night. It was so confusing that I couldn't figure out how much I was betting. I just ended up leaving.

I agree that message/warning should be on all slot machines. When I mentioned it, above, I was just kidding, so it is nice to know it is really out there on some.

However, that would never happen at the land casino. I swear they place those buttons right next to each other, because they WANT people to accidentally bet max. And they would never compensate for someone making a mistake, that is for sure lol

There is actually one casino in Minnesota where they do not allow alcohol: Grand Casino Mille Lacs. It is interesting, because Grand Casino Hinckley just added a second bar in their casino, and they are somehow connected. But Mille Lacs is connected to another reservation.

Mystic Lake did not serve alcohol for years, either, but I heard they recently changed that. I am not 100% certain, though.

Doesn't matter to me either way, because I think I have had a total of one drink at the casino ever, and that was on my birthday one year, many years ago. Hinckley also has bands and dancing.

I used to get free beer in Colorado. I know every state is different. The casinos here have a self serve beverage area, really nice actually. They have water or pop. (soda as some people call it)

They have the self-serve at our casinos, too. And a person who walks around if you are winning at a machine and don't want to get up. But then I always feel the need to give a little tip. So most of the time I just help myself. I drink way too much coffee out of those machines when I am at the casinos, trying to stay up all night, lol. And funny that is the ONLY place I drink pop (but still not too much, I mostly drink water).

We have those people who walk around too. They are always ladies. Why can't they be handsome men? I feel like I have to tip them too. I would rather spend that money gambling. I rarely drink pop, but every great now and then I have a sip while at the casino.

ours dont have self serve its all done by the wait staff or you have to go the bar to get it.
