Actually I had read that the salute goes all the way back to medieval times when knights had to lift their helmet visors to show their faces to the king.
Coppola and Brando... it would have to be The Godfather or Apocalypse Now? I'll go with the Godfather.
I believe the article I posted mentions that, too, then says the most common explanation was the one I posted. They all make sense, though.
As for your answer, you picked the wrong one, lol, but now I gave it away. haha!
Seems I always post questions that are either too difficult or too easy. I will have to stump everyone next time.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of the things, and no good thing ever dies.
Shawshank Redemption
I think Apocalypse Now.
Plus blather does hint more towards the scene with the renegade colonel when he's talking to Martin Sheen's character. Don't remember sequence word for word but sounds right.
Yes, the answer was Apocalypse Now, so go ahead and list a new question!

Oops thought I was posting after CL-ED
I'll be back soon with tricky one (maybe).
Well, CL-Ed guessed the wrong movie, you came along and guessed the correct one, so I guess you are up, Yobes!

How many eyes does a bee have?
Friend stumped me with this one and I'm passing it on
Can't lose our classic trivia thread, one of the first games ever here!
Does anyone know the answer, so we can keep this going or does Yobes have us all stumped?

Hope777
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of the things, and no good thing ever dies.
Shawshank Redemption
Our Trivia Thread has been sitting idle too long, so I cheated. I Googled and discovered that bees have FIVE EYES:
Two large compound eyes and three simple eyes called ocelli.
Is that correct Yobes? That was a very interesting question (and answer).
Let me know if I found accurate information, and I will post the next question.

Shawshank Redemption
Hey Hope dead on correct.
Sorry for the delay folks.
No problem, Yobes. Now I have to think of something, lol.
Okay. This may be too easy, but I will still see if someone still remembers this off the top of their head (remember no cheating like I did, lol. I only did it, because the question was there for so long).
How many colors are there in a rainbow?

What do you call the birdie in a badminton game?
That would be a shuttlecock. I've actually never heard it called a birdie!
Here's an oddball one. Which famous company's logo is written in Spencerian Script?

You are right CL-ED.I didn't think anyone knew that old-timey word.

Just waiting to see if I'm correct.I don't google,so if it's not in my head,it ain't there.Sounds like something Yogi Berra would say.

New question-Who is the person who invented air conditioning?
If he wasn't deceased,I would thank him profusely.
Hmmm....that is a great question, WG, but I am not sure I ever knew this one. I will have to think about it, but not sure I remember this person we would ALL thank, lol.

You are close enough, LuckyWalker, and I am sorry to hear that. You are better off without him then, right?
I read 30%, but I also read another article that said 20 to 40 percent, so go ahead and post a new trivia question to stump us all.
