Let's start a MOVIE QUOTES game!

52 replies • Last post

Hello CL Friends,

We haven't had a new game for a while.

We play a movie quotes game on another site, and many of us enjoy playing that game.

First person says a movie quote the next person guesses it and then posts a quote of their own!! Try not to Google, but if no one has guessed for a while, you may have to "cheat" to keep the game moving along. No problem!

Here is your first quote:

I will start with an EASY (but funny) one:

In a telephone booth with the door closed]
Person I: Uh oh fart. Uh oh fart.
Person 2: Did you fart, Person 1? Did you fucking fart?
Person 1: Fart.
Person 2 [Trying unsuccessfully to open the door] How can you stand that?
Person 1: I don't mind it.
Person 2: How can you stand it?
Person 1: Ten minutes to Wapner. We're definitely locked in this box with no TV.

With my memory, I can't play this game without Google. I will see who else plays first before I google. The above quote rings no bells at all.

No problem. I often have to Google, but once in a while, some are easy. Anyway, that is why I say Googling is allowed for this game. 🙂 I LOVE quotes of all kinds and especially movie quotes. 🙂

LOVE this movie!

Quote One:

You know, it's proven that second-hand smoke is, uh, carcin-... uh, you know, cancer related.

ONE MORE (this one should give it away, lol): And remember, I grew up in Brainerd, lol.

So that was Mrs. Lundegaard on the floor in there. And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper. And those three people in Brainerd. And for what? For a little bit of money. There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day. Well. I just don't understand it.

I will not rest until I have you holding a Coke, wearing your own shoe, playing a Sega game *featuring you*, while singing your own song in a new commercial, *starring you*, broadcast during the Superbowl, in a game that you are winning, and I will not *sleep* until that happens. I'll give you fifteen minutes to call me back.

Oh my gosh, you haven't seen Fargo? One of my favorite Cohen Brother movies ever, and I love ALL their movies. It is a crazy dark comedy that makes fun of the way we Minnesotans talk. lol

One of the girls in my doc's office was from Minnesota. I know her a's were very long. Other than that she talked like everyone else.

I like to think most of us do, lol. But Fargo really exaggerated the way we talk. However, once in a while you will find someone who lives waaaaay up nort' lol who will actually sound like a character from Fargo, um hmmmm, doncha know? lol I remember the movie insulted many from Minnesota (even though it was called Fargo, much took place in Minnesota), but I laughed along. It was all in good fun, and you can't beat the Cohen brothers for putting out a good, "quirky" movie. Frances McDormand did a fantastic job in that movie. She is actually married to one of the brothers.

That is cool!

I think that Jessica Lange lived outside Brainerd for a while in a town called Baxter where my mom lives now, and I also lived for a while. We lived in Brainerd most of my growing up years, then in Baxter for a few of those years before my parents decided to move back "to town." 🙂

That is the BEST hint ever, lw. You could have just given the answer and posted a new quote to stump us. Do you want to post the next quote, since you correctly guessed Jerry Maguire.

Okay! I will take a turn then. Thanks. 🙂

I will start with this one and post another if no one gets it:

Person One: If I don't come back, tell mother I love her.
Person Two: Your mother's dead, Person One.
Person One: Well then I'll tell her myself.

The movie is from 2007 by two of my ATF directors. The movie also has one of the most chilling "bad guys" in any movie I have seen before or since, played by one of my favorite actors.

Another quote:

I was sheriff of this county when I was twenty-five years old. Hard to believe. My grandfather was a lawman; father too. Me and him was sheriffs at the same time; him up in Plano and me out here. I think he's pretty proud of that. I know I was. Some of the old time sheriffs never even wore a gun. A lotta folks find that hard to believe. Jim Scarborough'd never carried one; that's the younger Jim. Gaston Boykins wouldn't wear one up in Comanche County. I always liked to hear about the oldtimers. Never missed a chance to do so. You can't help but compare yourself against the oldtimers. Can't help but wonder how they would have operated these times. There was this boy I sent to the 'lectric chair at Huntsville Hill here a while back. My arrest and my testimony. He killt a fourteen-year-old girl. Papers said it was a crime of passion but he told me there wasn't any passion to it. Told me that he'd been planning to kill somebody for about as long as he could remember. Said that if they turned him out he'd do it again. Said he knew he was going to hell. "Be there in about fifteen minutes". I don't know what to make of that. I sure don't. The crime you see now, it's hard to even take its measure. It's not that I'm afraid of it. I always knew you had to be willing to die to even do this job. But, I don't want to push my chips forward and go out and meet something I don't understand. A man would have to put his soul at hazard. He'd have to say, "O.K., I'll be part of this world."

Okay. You may not have seen this one.

I can keep helping. 🙂 One of my very favorite actors, Tommy Lee Jones, is in this movie, and his character is responsible for the quote above. The "bad guy" who gave me nightmares is Javier Bordem. You should be able to figure this out from their IMDB pages now.

Yes. I ADORE the Cohen Brothers and all their movies. This one stayed with me long after I watched it. All three of my sons felt the same. Javier Bordem sure had a stylish haircut for the film, lol, which was one of the Cohen Brother's idea. I have not experienced watching a movie " with a vllain" like that where I was actually as frightened as I was by him.

Your turn to stump us, LW!

Here is another quote from the movie...should be a give away.....

Correct, that's just what he is too. He's a circus mouse. When I get outta here, he's gonna make me rich
