*NEW* Guess the Lyrics Game

118 replies • Last post
Click to show this thread's original post ▼

Here is another copycat game that I thought might be fun! We just keep needing MORE PLAYERS TO GET INVOLVED in our game forum, so please do join us, everyone!

Someone will post lyrics to any song. The person who guesses the song title and artist will select the next song.

You can use any lyrics from the song; it can be the beginning of the song, middle.

DO NOT post your lyrics until the person who posted the lyrics you guessed comes in and confirms you are correct, please! Just easier that way.

Let's see how long we can keep this going and let's see who can do it without surfing the Internet for the answer! Even if you are wrong, it's going to be fun trying. (If you get really tempted or you do not have a single clue, I guess you can Google, but try hard to not have to do so, even if you guess and get it wrong).

I will try to make the first one an easy one, to get us started. 🙂

Name the artist and song title for the following lyrics:

When they said you was high-classed,
Well, that was just a lie.
When they said you was high-classed,
Well, that was just a lie.
You ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine. 😉

I actually had to look this one up, because I couldn't figure it out, and I know a ton of Beatles songs, lol.

These lyrics sound totally unfamiliar to me. I wonder if he wrote this song about my nephew...lol.

Love this song!

Never win first place, I don't support the team
I can't take direction, and my socks are never
clean
Teachers dated me, my parents hated me
I was always in a fight cuz I can't do nothin'
right

Everyday I fight a war against the mirror
I can't take the person starin' back at me
I'm a hazard to myself

This sounds like a newer song even though the lyrics aren't familiar to me. It reminds me of something Pink would sing. I will have to look it up.

When was the last time
You thought of me
Oh have you completely erased me from your memory
I often think about where I went wrong
The more I do the less I knowI know I have a fickle heart
And a bitterness and a wandering eye and a heaviness in my head

Yeah, that is one tune I CRANK in my car and sing along way off key, lol. It has a great tune, too, and it is not newer, but you did good identifying Pink before you looked it up. Take a listen! 🙂 LOVE this song.

I read the lyrics and I could just hear her singing them. I was surprised when I looked it up and saw she was the artist. 🙂

Another one of my ATF songs:

When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry

You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fucking special

Creep by Radiohead

How did it happen it was never really clear
I never thought that you and I would still be here
So many nights of love and many more to come
When we would sing together till the song was sung

I don't know when it was my heart began to fly
I don't remember when the music made me cry
We only did what was so natural to do
And all the things you said to me I want to give to you

Now and Forever by Air Supply? I had to look this one up, so I hope it is the correct song.

Next lyrics:

I can't light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life

Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Elton John?

Well, you can knock me down,
Step in my face,
Slander my name
All over the place.

Yes, that is Elton, and I love that song and many more. I got to see him in concert years ago at the Target Center in Mpls.

Blue Suede Shoes by Elvis Presley! 🙂

I used to LOVE this song and miss the CD:

Another head hangs lowly,
Child is slowly taken.
And the violence caused such silence,
Who are we mistaken?

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

Elton John was the best concert I ever got to go to. I have not been to a concert in probably 30 years so that may not be saying much. I remember the huge glasses, platform shoes and wacky outfits. Everyone in the place was on their feet. I can still hear Benny and the Jets in my mind.

I will be back to answer your lyrics. I will have to think about this one.

That sounds often. I was amazed at how he played the piano. He even went under the piano and played by reaching up. He changed outfits TONS of times. I miss going to concerts, and i hope to get to some outdoor ones this summer. I LOVE outdoor concerts, even if it is not a big name band, it is fun.

I will wait for you to guess my lyrics! 🙂

That reminds me...my mom and I went to some outdoor concerts about 9 years ago. Wow, how time flies. It was in the summer, we took our lawn chairs. It was very nice.

Sounds like a fun time. I do love an outdoor concert. I used to go to the Basilicca (sp?) Block party every summer. Two stages and six bands, and I have seen so many big name bands this way. They hold it every year to raise money for the beautiful Basilicca in Minneapolis. I will see if I can find a photo of the gorgeous building.

Here are two photos of the outside of the Basilica. They also give tours of the inside during the concert.

Here is a glimpse of the inside of the Basilica of St. Mary. The final photo is ONE of the stages of the block party with the Mpls skyline behind the stage. It is always so beautiful out there. There is another stage where you can sit on the grass. They both go at the same time, but if you time it right you can see four to five out of six of the bands. I have seen The Country Crows, The BoDeans, Sister Hazel, John Hyatt, Bob Dylan's son, Jacob's band (can't think of the name right now, lol). and too many more to count by going to this concert. We also go to the FREE Aquatenniel concert in downtown Mpls almost every year. I just love the feel and setting of the online venue.

Zombie, Cranberries

I had to look it up. I watched the video. How sad. Sad lyrics. In the video someone wrote, "I don't understand hate." I don't either. What a wasted emotion.

want to pack your bags something small
take what you need & we disappear
without a trace, we'll be gone, gone
The moon & the stars follow the car
& then when we get to the ocean,
we're going to take a boat to the end of the world...
all the way to the end of the world
oh and when the kids are old enough
we gonna teach them to flyyyyyyy

I knew you would appreciate the architecture and beauty of that building. Come on over, and we will go in July! We can rock out together, lol! Wouldn't that be FUN? 🙂 I know I would love it, lol. One of us has to win a BIG jackpot so we can finally meet someday.

As far as the Cranberries, they have always been one of my favorite bands. I had the CD, and I would play it over and over. Delores, the lead singer has such a gorgeous, unique voice, and that is what I am always attracted to in bands and singers. Her vocals are so amazing. There is another song by them that got a lot of radio play, and I bet you would remember it. It is called Linger:

Your Lyrics:

Me and You by Dave Mathews. I love Dave Mathews, but I still had to look it up. Great song!

It reminded me of another song with similar lyrics, but I am having a brain fart, lol, as to the name of the song and band. I will have to think about that one for future.

Here are my new lyrics (lol). I heard the artist sing this song at the Basilica Block Party. 🙂

I'm dirty as a man hole cover
I'm lookin for my long lost lover
She turned me out and now I'm sinkin'
I'm just so easily led when the little head does the thinkin'

I'm talking with a tight red sweater
I'm feelin' like Eddie Vedder
Only twice as cool when she starts winkin'
I'm just so easily led when the little head does the thinkin'

I'm loyal as a dog but I'm a hog for that sexual attraction
It starts up in my mind and makes a bee line below the belt
No consequences just satisfaction

You took my hand
You showed me how
You promised me you'd be around
Uh huh
That's right
I took your words
And I believed
In everything
You said to me
Yeah huh
That's right

That song is hilarious. At the Basilica he said, "I am a man, so I finally had to write a song about my penis," lol.
