Got a threatening call from oddsmaker

34 replies • Last post

Hi people, couple weeks ago or last month I posted online that oddsmaker didnt pay me and I disputed their charges because they accused me of chip dumping and froze my account with my funds. I went straight to my credit company and disputed the charges because I won fair and square and I am not just getting back what I deposited and not my winnings.

A person just called me today threatening to meet me in the place I lived at and uses violence. He said he sent over a report to the police department and they will put me in jail. Am I suppose to be worried right now? Should i have my gun ready to meet this ass hole?

Oh, wow. Can't wait to see what CL-Ed says about this one. That is CRAZY! You should be the one calling the police if someone is threatening you. Good grief.

kianz, I would say that it is extremely unlikely that they would do anything to you, but you can never be too careful. Do you have the number that they called you from? If so I would report it to your local law enforcement. I am sure they will take the necessary steps to protect you.

I am sure it is all talk, but you never know nowadays...

Sportsbook Review has a review of these guys, giving them an F rating. You can read the stuff here: http://www.sportsbookreview.com/oddsmaker/news/

If they are based in Canada, perhaps you should also report the threat to their government and see what they can do. Jot down as much info as you can!

The number is 1866 414 0667 is the number i got the call from. Other than calling the police, which i think will let them know im gambling online, is there something else I should be doing to protect myself?

But the thing is that it wasnt for a large amount, it was only for a couple of hundred dollars that i deposited. Would you think they would go through all this for a couple of hundred dollars?

No more scary tactics from offshore gambling operators. We could now play the USA base online casinos this year safely. It's protected and regulated too..

Some of the questions he asked me were stupid. He called me an liar right up front saying I am a thief. I stole from them while they freezing my account is not stealing huh. He even asked me if I am a legal resident, which was a dumb question. Then he said that he is giving me one last chance to pay back the money, four hundred dollars, or else be prepare to meet a couple of big black guys. He said he already sent a report to the police department in my area, then what the fuk else do you think im going to do? I think i just get my gun ready to pop this mother fuker in the face if he shows up my lawn.

Geez that is disgusting. Isn't it great to see how well the U.S. government's "head in the sand policy" is working for U.S. gamblers?

There is no way that he has contacted the police because they know that whatever methods they are using to process your deposits are most likely illegal. In addition you have done nothing illegal so he is talking out of his arse when he says that the police will throw you in jail.

The problem for them is that when you chargeback it brings the heat on their business as the chargeback is investigated. If you tell the credit card company that it was gambling related the site could have their processing ability shut down which means it inhibits their ability to continue to rip off other punters. That is no doubt why he is so angry.

DId you get the oxygen thief's name? Was it Tony Massina?

I found an old thread from 2008 where a person was threatened in a similar way.
http://www.cardschat.com/f10/oddsmaker-com-ripoff-artists-98867/ - see post #29 in that thread:

Quote:

At this point my only recourse was to contact visa which I did and filed a complant when Oddsmarker was notified of the complaint I was sent the following email from Tony Massina this email is nicely put compared to the vociemail he left me making sereval threats.

If you follow through with your threat to illegally and fraudulently dispute and charge back the legitimate credit card deposits you made on our site, we will have no option but to have our legal department and credit department take any and all necessary action against you and may effect your name and your credit. You also risk facing criminal charges of fraud and theft as well as having your name blacklisted in the gaming industry. All computer IP addresses, chats, phone conversations and emails as well as proof of promotions sent in the mail will be used as proof! I suggest you email or call me to let me know that you will NOT be disputing any charges. If I do not hear from you I will know how to proceed!

This is exactly what I had figured, Ed. These guys are flat out scammers, and the big talk is just a way to intimidate people into not fighting the chargeback.

You have done nothing wrong kianz. Don't bend on this.

Wow, he actually said to "prepare to meet two big black guys?" REALLY? That is just insane.

I would also stick to my guns (no pun intended, lol), and ignore their threats Still, in this crazy world, I can see why this would make one uneasy! 😢

I wish such behavior could be reported elsewhere, as they are the ones threatening you!

This is definitely making me feel a little paranoid right now. You guys telling me that this casino is based in Canada makes it worst. Is there anyone with similar experience who can share some advice with me?

I got what I deposited back. I just check the voice mail and the call was from Tony Massina. I read other post on SBR and some people had similar messages. I am guessing that they do not have the man power to pursue me in person. nor will it worth his time for 500$ or will they have any legal rights to pursue it. They scam people for a quarter million already, reported by sportsbookreview. But I am being a little paranoid right now as I don't take threats very good from people like these. I take self-protections very seriously because I do not believe that the police will have the time or will deem my case worthy of wasting their time. So to all those people who got scammed, if this mother fuker do show up in my lawn knocking in my door or approach me in my property. I will serve this bastard with something good to the face.

Good to hear you do not back down easily, nor should you. Sounds like you are not alone. I wish people like this could be reported and stopped permanently. Which could happen if they show up at YOUR door. lol Glad you did not let them intimidate you.

Don't worry kianz11, the worm known as Tony Massina won't show up over $400. Surely it would cost him more than that to hire a couple of heavies, and its pretty clear that money is his one and only motivation.

Kianz,

I would love to talk to you. The same thing is happening to me. I wanted to close my oddsmaker account and was ignored. I tried threatening to reject the latest deposit (only $25) if they did not honor my request to close my account. A few days oddsmaker refunded all of the deposits I ever made and are claiming I owe them almost double the amount they refunded. I never asked that anything be refunded. After saying this to them, I received several rude and threatening emails from Tony. Below are some of him emails copy and pasted:

"Are you stupid? My ;lawyers are gonna sue you badly. We had to refund your deposits due to your threats and therefore you woe us the money you thief"

"You are a fucking retard. We HAD to refund because you THREATENED to asshole! So fuck off while our lawyers ruin your life"

Hey Amphiptere, welcome to the site. Sorry it is under those crummy circumstances.

I wouldn't worry about this Tony dude. Sounds like it is all bark. F' him and find a better place to play at. They do exist!

Good luck to you!

Thanks.

The only problem is they refunded $1,731.55 that I would like to just give them back but I don't even know how I would. Every response from Tony is just him calling me a fucking scumbag.

Amphiptere, here is what I think is happening. He is scared of you making a $25 chargeback as it could jeopardise the site's ability to process payments from all their customers if an investigation takes place and it reveals that they are miscoding card transactions to disguise the fact that they are going to a gambling site. He is so worried about this that he is refunding all your deposits so that you can't possibly make a chargeback in the future. He won't get lawyers involved because he can't as it would just raise questions about what exactly he is doing. Its all bluster from a foul-mouthed bully.

The thing is, anyone who has lost a significant amount at, or anyone who has not been paid by Oddsmaker now knows exactly what to do to get their money back once they read this page. In addition, actual dishonest players (as opposed to you who just wanted to close your account) can take advantage of this knowledge.

He could have just closed your account and maybe even refunded your last $25 and said something respectful or apologise. But no, he has to go the nuclear option and make things worse for himself. Not only is he a foul-mouthed bully, he's a certified grade-A moron. Keep the money and consider it compensation for being treated so roughly. Buy yourself a beer and toast it to Tony Massina.

I honestly would have given the money back if it weren't for the way he was talking to me. Here are some copy and pasted emails I received from him....keeping in mind that I was calm and polite with every response.

These are direct quotes from Oddsmaker's head of security:

"it was much much more sent back. Give it another week and you will see much much more sent back and it was NOT an error as I already explained and the reason why you are getting sued and charged criminally with fraud IF you do not pay it back.. YOU threatened to dispute and my lawyers suggested we refund and then sue your ass off. We do NOT take checks. You will have to send me several Western Unions and/or Money gram payments CASH as we take visa or western union/money gram but can no longer take your credit cards as your name was permanently blacklisted forever!!!"

"Fuck you thieving prick. I will make sure they sue your thieving fucking ass you bastard."

"Bastard!! I fucking told you we do not take checks. You bastard!!! Either send the fucking Western Union as that is the ONLY option or Is wear to the lord almighty my lawyers will ruin your name and credit and sue you through the fucking teeth. You have proof you send a Western Union with a receipt you bastard!! I need to enter the ten digit control # on my end you bastard!!! Oddsmaker is based out of the Philippines you fucking bastard!"

"Do what you must but YOU screwed us over and YOU decided not to send the Western Union. So do what you must. I will ask my lawyers to begin IMMEDIATE action scumbag"

Wow. What a tool.

That more or less confirms my suspicions. He wants you to use Western Union because it is untraceable and non-refundable. I can't begin to fathom this guy's thought process though. His threat to sue is totally ridiculous. What could he possibly sue you for? You haven't done anything wrong. You didn't make a fraudulent chargeback and he voluntarily refunded you.

Hello, I havent been back on this site forever. But yeah, my experience with them wasn't a good one either like I mentioned couple months ago. They never showed up at my door, I never heard from bastard again. Just like Cl Ed said, he probably refunded your deposit so you cannot make a charge back on their scammy ass. Just enjoy your refund and DO NOT sent him anything through western union or moneygram. It is untraceable and you're basically giving him the money you got back from a scam. I went hunting for couple of time these months, had no hogs yet, but im ready to shoot this fat piece of fuck.

Heres my advice, keep the money and BUY WHAT YOU WANT! since you already accepted the fact that you lost it, these are basically a gift from the bastard, Tony Massina.

If you feel like you can't spend it comfortably, heck, ill help you. Drop me a message and ill give you my name to send it to hahaha. Anyway, enjoy your 1.9k

I'm having an encounter with Tony as well. Starting to get the fierce language in emails. Just wondering if anyone has any experience other than harassing emails and phone calls? I'm not to worried about legal action and credit damage given the nature of the business, but don't want to be killed over a few thousand bucks.

Cheers

I get a lot of calls from books based in Miami. It is almost as if they are using a way to call with the local number from Costa Rica or wherever.
