thepunisher is there a particular video poker game the you will be playing. as there are a variety of games there are also different strategies...a basic one that i know from my own experience is that if the machine is not paying its not going to pay...and if your looking for that 4 of a kind,,,i have also found that the machine that gives you a lot of 3 of kinds - eventually will give you the 4 of kind. A stale machine will just give you the pair after pair after pair and then nothing...and plenty of more pairs with plenty of nothings..as pairs pay even...and nothing obviously loses...your bankroll although u think is sustaining soon dwindles down to nothing. As with any slot or video game, know when to get up and find another machine to play before you deplete your bankroll.

As for actual game strategy, you can find strategy cards on the web - from the link you -provided it explains the simple strategy and the advance strategy. if you are new to the game, i do recommend that you stick to the simple strategy until you get feel of how the game plays out. Nothing is better for learning than learning through experience. Start playing on the 25 cent machines before moving on to the higher waging ones. And just as it also describes from that link, bet max. to get max, payouts. If you were to throw a $100 bill into a 25 cent machine you will receive 400 credits/coins. Max bet will be 5 coins a spin. If after 20 spins you have not hit anything such as a few trips, straights, flushes and/or better..get up and find yourself another machine to play on. Stick to the strategy cards and hopefully you will come out a winner. Good luck to you!!!

After reading your posts I went to play video poker at the Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. I didn't stay long...30 minutes....give or take a few minutes. I played the 25 cent machine and played the "Triple Bonus Poker" - threw in $20 - about 3 spins in I hit a four of a kind with 3's - played for a bit and then cashed out for $150...switched machines playing the same game with $20 and I hit another four of a kind with Jacks...cashed out at $50...switched to another machine - same game with $20 and I hit another four of kind with 6's - cashed out for $60 - and so started with $20 and walked out with $260 - not too shabby Smile)

Video Poker is a simple game. It starts with player clicking on insert money button and then again clicking on bet button. I would like to inform you that there are different video poker machines available. I assume you are not a professional and would suggest you either Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild because they are quite simple and does not involve any kind of strategy.

No, there most certainly is a correct strategy for playing jacks or better and deuces wild video poker. The wizard of odds explains it best.

There is definitely strategy in all aspects of any video poker game. There are strategies that are constant or the same throughout all the video poker games. However you should be aware that there are differences too, depending on the type of video poker game. For instance, jacks or better will pay x2 for two pairs. Where as Triple Bonus Poker will pay even but pays significantly more for 4 aces. Therefore when dealt A, A, 2, 2, 9 - in jacks or better u would hold the 2 pairs. In Triple Bonus Poker - only the Aces should be held, in hopes to drawing another two. Also holding AA still guarantees getting paid even which is also the same pay if the aces and deuces were held. My point is be aware of the game you are playing and implement the best strategy for that game.
