What are some of your favorite websites?

One of my favorite websites is www.listia.com. It is a newer site, about a year or so old. You list items that you no longer want and people bid on them with credits they have received by listing items. You can also buy credits on the site. You get credits from referring others, for checking in, for posting, for reaching goals...like so many posts, so many sales. Sometimes you get extra credits for listing specific items.

You can choose to offer free shipping, which if you do, you get extra credits. You can also have the bidder pay for shipping but you usually don't get as many credits.

I have won jewelry, dvds, gift cards, a blanket, clothing, postage stamps and lots of other items on this site. No money exchanges hands. They do have you pay $1.00 at fist to register if you want to be verified (which means more bidders) but after that no money is needed unless you want to buy extra credits.

They also have several auctions each month that are listed by Listia to show appreciation for members.
You can enter into them by bidding on them with your credits. They have cameras and other great items.

If you're into board games, Board Game Geek is the best.
www.boardgamegeek.com

Be warned, the site is ugly and they really do put the Geek in Board Game Geek. But its great for finding a gift for a kid, especially if they are at that age when you don't really know what to get. Just go to the kids games section and sort them by rating to find the best ones.

The site is definitely jazzy like here but it looks like they have a lot of different categories to choose from. I check it out more later. Thanks

That site is NOT pretty! You are right on that one, lol. However, it also looks cool for one who loves games and board games, and I often get games for gifts for my nephews, so thank you!

My post above should have said definitely NOT jazzy like here. I think they would get a lot more business with a different layout and a more visually appealing site.

Yeah I think the same thing every time I visit it. But the information there is tops, don't judge a book by its cover!

Another site which is helpful is www.ripoffreport.com. You can look up a company before you sign up with them to see their reputation. It might be fun to put some of the rogue casino names in there and see what pops up.

The site also allows company owners to tell their side of the story.

This is a wonderful reminder! This is also one of the great benefits of online communication. They can run, but they cannot hide anymore! 😉 People should take the time to write the bad AND the good about companies and share their experiences.

Yes! I was having a billing problem with Comcast. I talked and talked to several of their representatives who were too stupid to figure out the problem after I explained it to them. They never did correct the billing problem and sent me to collection. I refused to pay because I didn't owe it. I read on ripoffreport that many, many people were experiencing the same thing. It was a billing scam they were pulling. I will NEVER use them again if I can help it. Sometimes they are the only cable company in town. When I get something in the mail from them it goes directly in the trash. I think if they are the only cable company in town they won't work with you at all. If there is a competitor then they may give you a special deal to sign up with them. At our last house, I signed up online for cable. When they got there, they told me the installation fee would be more than what I was quoted. I argued with them and the installer called the company. They made a note of the correct amount on the bill but it didn't make any difference. When the bill came, the wrong amount was on the bill. I should have refused the installation l until I had in writing the corrected amount from the company, not the technician. The problem with that is that installation would have been a few more weeks to install. I think they do that on purpose too.

I found this website last night, when I was looking for a story called, "Three Letters from Teddy." Most teachers have read this story, or watched the video version, but many others have probably missed this, because it is often passed around among those in the field of education. Very touching story if you would like to be uplifted today:

I have been a swagbucks member for about 3 years now and gotten about $300 in Amazon gift cards. They are legit.

Some of my favorite sites are: Google, Casino Listings (duh), Amazon, Engadget, IGN, ESPN, and IMDB for movies.

Yeah I've received a lot of gift cards from Swagbucks and if you just search a couple of times a day, the points add up fast.

Did I list Project Free TV yet? I have talked about this and shared in the movie thread. Just Google "project free TV," and it will pop up first. You can find almost any TV show or movie that you can think of, even movies that are not on DVD yet. Sometimes you can hear people laughing in the theatre, though, lol.

These movies are all free to stream. You do not have to download anything. If a sign up box pops up, just click out of it. You do NOT have to sign up for anything. You may get some pop-ups as you navigate toward your movie/TV show, but usually only one or two, and I just click out of them as fast as they pop up. I have never had to pay for cable, due to project free. Love it! 🙂

Metacritic is a really great site for reviews for movies, music, games, TV shows, and more. There are critic reviews and user reviews for everything under the sun under those topics. I like IMDB and Wiki for episode lists and reviews, too, and I have also checked with Rotten Tomatoes. Metacritic is very thorough.

Have you all noticed the IMDB is VERY stingy with its ratings? If a movie even gets into the sixes (out of ten) it is doing good. I do like IMDB, too, because there is always a critic review and a user review. Rotten tomatoes can be fun and has both as well.

Check it out!

I checked out both of these Hope. I watched the Moneyball trailer on rottentomatoes. Looks like it go a 97% on the tomatotometer. Now I want to see it. Guess I will be joining Netflix after the move.

YES! I get those "ear worms" all the time, lol!

I like the following site, which sometimes has some very good videos. Some I have listed in the "make me smile" and "news" threads to share. Some are serious, some are funny, etc., but if you are bored you can browse through the videos and find one you like or one to cheer you up.
