Costa Rican based BetUS offers a somewhat unique proposition for online casino players, for it offers not one but two entirely different sets of casino software. Primarily operating as a sportsbook for U.S. customers since 1994, BetUS recently launched its own full featured downloadable casino with software from Rival Gaming.
Casino software choice
If flash-powered instant play casinos are your thing then you can play at BetUS using games developed by DGS (Digital Gaming Solutions). The casino at BetUS has more or less operated like this for several years, mainly as an afterthought to the sportsbook section of the site. However in 2009 they released a full download client with an entirely different set of Rival-powered casino games.
Personally I prefer the downloadable Rival games - they are far more polished and professionally presented than the aging flash based DGS games. They also have the added attraction of being linked to the Rival Gaming progressive jackpot network, which includes jackpots such as One Million Reels BC, Major Moolah, and Money Magic. There is a decent collection of slots, including Rival's flagship i-Slots which have interactive storylines that unfold as you play. There are also a fine collection of table games including blackjack, roulette, craps, caribbean stud poker and various other variations of table poker, as well as keno, parlour games and video pokers to choose from.
Bonuses and Tournaments
BetUS Casino has a good range of promotions and bonuses. Here, the welcome bonus can be as much as $500 – a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. In addition there are a bunch of other bonus offers for both table games and slots lovers. Sadly almost all the deposit bonuses have maximum cash-out limits imposed which is a big no-no in our book.
BetUS also runs a comp points program, refer a friend rewards and they also hold casino game tournaments which run several times a week.
Support and banking options
Customer support can be contacted 24 hours a day via telephone - which is a good thing because you'll need to call them to claim some of the bonuses on offer. They can also be reached via email and live chat. Banking options are a little slim which is to be expected for a site mainly focussing on U.S. players these days.
Overall, BetUS is a decent online casino option without offering anything we haven't seen countless times before. It is obvious that the sportsbook is their bread and butter, and you get the distinct feeling that the casino is just there as an afterthought. Experienced bonus players will be turned off by the win limits on the deposit bonuses. Probably only worth a shot for their existing sportsbook customers.
