The monthly bonus is great, I used to just let the autoplay blackjack works its magic through the wagering requirements and usually take back a nice profit, but after 3-4 months of doing this they took me off the monthly bonus list

I eventually got the email invitation, but wasnt succesful as i lost bonus and deposit.
I guess it was due to happen , since i really had nice run in previous months.
At 1 point i was up to $80, but the table turned, and i started loosing more and more hands.

Yes, I think they handled this well. You broke the T&Cs and they refunded you. A lot of other less reputable casinos would have confiscated your money.
In case you or anyone else is wondering why they have this rule, what you have done is a common method used by advantage players when claiming a bonus. They play a low house edge game (i.e. baccarat) with high bets at the start of a bonus.
